Game will be on NBC Sports Network! Big game for the Bulls w/ 1st place at stake. Does Cahill make his MLS debut in this game? Also for those of you who missed it: Ballouchy was traded to San Jose today!
If the guys had more time to rest after such a low energy outing against Montreal I'd feel better, but with the midweek friendly, travel, Dax being out, guys just returning from injury, and Houston's current form... not entirely confident we'll get a result out of this one.
If we can get one game out of Tainio where he handles the Dax role (not overly optimistic) that would be nice. I'd take four out of the six points here and run.
You all are dilusional if think that we have a champion team on hand, no question we have one of the best roster ever, but coach is missing, we will loose in Houston with a much low team than us, but not Tainio has been a good player, but the right and only move RBNY have with him is waive him and look for his replacement before the MLS salary freezes, Tainio will not last more than two games before he go back to the DL and by that time will be to late and we have to carrier him for the rest of the season and if God don't permit some body else get hurt of the MF roster, we will be cooked and done.....
Do you really have anything to base that on other than his injury this season? I know he's a bit older, but I'm willing to give him some time before I call it quits on Tainio. I absolutely loved him last season and I think you are forgetting what an important role he played for us last year. Even at the start of this year he was pretty solid. I agree that if his form doesn't come back then he will be a lost cause, but I thought he looked pretty good last night considering everything that's happened to him this year.
We are Red Bull. We are on the road. We suck on the road. We play lifeless soccer on the roaad. We would be LUCKY to tie this one.
Yes, ....He is a injury prone, like Marquez, Conde and Henry.... They are our achilles tendon that will keep us out of any hardware if they continue to get hurt every couple of game they play, exactly for what you say,,, They are too old........ The trade window don't close until the seven, if they don't get one more striker we will be in heck of a problem, we have trouble with the injuries situation in our defense that they ignore to address, it is possible that now with Cahill the team start to score more goals, but is possible too that with the kind of defense we have; we will start to concede more goals also, and that will not bring us close to anything..... Is possible too, that they will start waiving some players to make capital room for the ones they are bringing, Cahill, Baba and XXXX.....So we don't know what the roster will be at the end of this trade space......One thing that we know is that the team become older and older with every acquisition they made.... In paper like I say before, Metros/RBNY have the best team of all times and maybe in the whole MLS too, but at the same time is the most liked to be the number one in injury prone players on the league..... So, it is delusion to think, that the MLS CUP is all ready cooked and served for us entertainment this year..... No question that if those player stay healthy we will have more than enough merit to win the CUP, but if, they stay healthy a thing that I doubt....
Whats the score with Baba? Is this guy likely to be a starting CB? If so, I am guessing Holgersson will move over to RB for this match. Is Pearce back at LB?
Starting? I'm not even sure if he'll be on the bench. I still think we have the answer to our defensive issues with Ruthven..
Any word on Barklages status? I know he was pegged to return sometime around this weekend but haven't seen any reports from training this week.
LOL. I just would rather give Ruthven a chance instead of putting the same garbage on the field that doesn't work, Miller, Marquez, Holgersson.
I don't want to go in circles again but I don't want to see Miller or Marquez on the field but Holgersson has improved and him alongside Conde with Barklage and Pearce being the other two defenders - I think that can work if they play together consistently.
Barklage, Meara, Marquez out against Houston, Tainio and Cahill will play but neither will likely go 90 minutes. Probably see Pearce at RB and Lade/Palsson come on as second half subs.
Like many fans here I been waiting for 17 years for a hardware, but from the beginning I have been saying that in a hurry and just for one season I'm not fund of that... This team right now is capable of winning at least the MLS CUP I don't know that if the People Shield is available yet, but is only 10 games left and teams like San Jose and Real Salt Lake are pretty ahead of us and don't look like if they want to surround that vantage.... Now, suppose that we can't materialize the CUP what will happen next year, we have as starter 8 players with 31 and over years of age and another 5 over 29 for the next year, that it is 13 starters over or near 30 years of age, that mean that we will continue like always, every year waiving 90% of the roster and start looking for a new team again, and that will get us to no place..... Because to my feeling Tainio if he isn't going before the 15 of August he will not be here next year, the same we can say about Lindpere that I think he is next in line After Richards and Ballouchy, and in the same way are Miller, Holgerslush, Solli, Conde and some others that for one or another reason will be forced to change scenery and that is a lot of player to look for and like that, we never will see a hardware exhibition any time soon.....
Typical RB fan mentality. Instead of putting 4 guys together for any period of time we just want to change players every game. Okay, put in Baba and Ruthven. Then next week everyone will be calling for someone else. Wash rinse and repeat. It no wonder we NEVER have a solid group that actually plays like a TEAM.
I think its more a mentality that all of our young guys on the bench are the real deal who just can't get a break with our American-youth-hating coach, and the guys on the field are just a bunch of chumps who are only playing based on favoritism. It was the same argument used for the dozen or so young guys waived over the last two years who are currently doing squat elsewhere.
Add in that we are terrible and pretty lifeless on the road and I will agree with ya 100%. All signs point to us losing this one.
Oh....Henry.... “I've said it so many times, I will stand by Rafa. I know what he can do when he’s fit,” team captain Thierry Henry said. “You saw it against D.C. Hopefully he can come back from his injuries and help us.” I sow more than 15 games last year and he play just crap all of them, .....how about that Henry.....
I see some of that. But I also see Lade and Barklage basically becoming starters too. Ruthven looked pretty solid. I like the guy and he looks promising. I dont think any of us can definitively say he is the answer though. He basically had a few decent matches where he was okay.
I can't believe some (one?) are saying play Ruthven. That is ridiculous. He is one of the poorest defenders on the team, though he does hustle his butt off. Seriously, if there is someone to follow Maduro in getting waived I would bet on it being Ruthven.
And why would you say that? I thought he played great in the 4 or 5 games he started back in May and was key for the team defense going from poor to solid. I guess if Solli never went down you would be saying the same thing about Barklage just because he never got a chance.
He start 5 games when all the internationals bums were out for injuries and the team win five game of five, that is a 100% performance and you say he is WHAT?......
