How's it going folks, just discovered this forum and it looks to be a great place for a bit of banter. Anyway I'm from Ireland but now living in New York City, I don't have the beans to fork out for FSW so I find myself watching in in the various bars around my flat, anyway I'm usually the only person checking out the games so as you can imagine the athmosphere is hardly electrifying. So I have to ask can anyone recommend any good fottie pubs in the city where there will be more than a few heads watching, preferably without any cover on the door.

Welcome to BigSoccer. There are more places other than this one, but Nevada Smith's is my favorite when I'm in "the city":

The following link is for First Touch, the grand daddy of NYC footy zines. They maintain a pretty good listing of the likely candidates....

Nevada Smith's, 74 3rd Ave., between 11th and 12th, is reputed to be a primo footie bar. I can't vouch for it personally.

"The Parlour" at 86th & Broadway is an Irish pub with a great atmosphere... especially if you're of the green persuasion.

Watched the Old Firm cup final there a couple of years ago... was great!

Nathan Hale's at 6 Murray Street right next to city hall is a really nice place. It's the official Metrostars EMpire Supporter's Club. They also show all football and Rugby that is on FSW. Great food too !!

Yeah, except for their curious decision to not serve alcohol in half the bar during the Turkey game. What was up with that?

A rare moment of Irish sobriety in the memory of the poor soul who was gang raped in Turkey a few years ago... http://www.soccernet.com/euro2000/news/19991118irelandfight.html
