Clint Matthias, who is now out of contract with the Metrostars, has just signed for Glasgow Rangers in Scotland. I don't know anything about him personally but is this a good signing for the 'Gers or just a deal of getting a player "on the free"?

he is rumored to a lot of places...however..

    A) he is not out of contract until January so he couldnt sign anywhere right now anyways...

    B) it's Mathis :D

    Jeff,

This is terrific news for Rangers! A fabulous opportunity for Mathis, who is best as a striker, but might well play midfield. The way things wound up for him at the end of the Metros season was a disgrace, and I wish him the best.

You might remember his remarkable left footer vs. S. Korea last summer?

If this is true, it's time for Clint to put up or shut up. Don't get me wrong, I really want to see a fellow Jawgin (he went to high school about 10 miles from where I did) do well but he must start taking fitness, etc., more seriously. Maybe this possible move will inspire him. I think he has the potential to do well for Rangers and I hope he succeeds.

Well, Ibrox is a long ways away from the Playboy mansion. He'll do well for Rangers. He's Ready.

Mathis can be very good or very lazy. Hopefully he'll commit himself and rise to the challenge.

Clint has not signed yet.... it is only a trial... the possability remains that he will sign for rangers, and follow the path that Claudio reyna took.

Can't wait to get my Mathis Rangers jersey!
The only questions that remains, short sleeves or long??

I have a friend who's favorite team is rangers and I always make fun of him for it... i'd have to eat a lot of crow when I show up in my mathis rangers jersey.

Leicester had him on trial as well and I hear they were impressed but he had a trial set up at Rangers already.
Mathis can play well...when he wants to. He has been known to have a big mouth and make waves (he voice his displeasure about his minutes on the national team for instance some time back).
I hope he does represent the country well. In my opinion Bocanegra is PL or SPL quality defender and I don't know why many clubs don't notice some of our better players.
I think Donovan can walk into most sides and start.

Is Clint Matthias related to Lothar Mattheus or Mathias Sammer?

Isn't that like saying is David James related to James Beattie?

Cletus can be a very, very dangerous striker when he's fit and in the mood. Trouble is, he's frequently neither...!

I hope he gets a slot in Rangers or somewhere in the EPL. It's what he's been wanting for years now. Either his game will improve dramatically, or he'll slog along for a couple of seasons, and return to MLS.
