The original Waldo had this too. I think it's FIFA requirement that the number must be surrounded by a solid color.

Just popped over here to see if any leaks had been posted yet, and to my pleasant surprise we’ve got red and white stripes!!

Which is IMO what the USA should have as our identifying, consistent theme, like the Netherlands orange, Brazil’s yellow, Argentina’s albiceste, or Croatia’s checkerboard.

My first reaction to the waves was questionable, but they couldn’t just go with a cut-and-paste of the old Waldos. I think it will grow on me.

The blues look black or charcoal—they had better be navy. And the stars are too sublimated—they need to stand out more. And I’m not a fan of the monochrome badge. Monochrome zzzzzzzzzz.

    This is true.
BUT—back in 2012 when the Waldos came out, there was a “fan version” (maybe it was the replica version???) in which the stripes/hoops went all the way around and there was no vacant white patch on the back like the authentics.
I wonder if that will be a thing.

I believe it wrapped all the way around if you ordered a blank i.e. no name or number. I would assume it would be the same this time around.

a very unofficial possibility for the front of the home shirt (which personally i think is as good as we can hope for)

What's the function of fading out that one red stripe? Is it simply to break up the pattern some?

Man, I still want the old logo/crest back. I have always detested this bland shield with USA and the red stripes, much preferred what they had in the aughts.

Neither of them are good. The old one has "Open wide for some soccer" energy, and the new one has no indication that it's a soccer federation logo.

Current one would be okayish if it said USSF or U.S. Soccer or something. Just USA makes it seem like it could be for any sport like an Olympic uniform.

    I like it.

It will also force Paraguay to wear their ugly dark blue/ turquoise tie-dye looking things.

I agree on both counts. Was glad when they replaced the cartoonish flying soccer ball with the misleading 3 stars but then was really disappointed when they revealed the new one.

I have a cap with the new logo and when I wear it around town I think 99% of people who see me think it's just some generic patriotic US of A cap and not related to sports never mind our national team.

The new crest could be for any sport. The “USA” should probably be “USSF,” and should be white on blue not blue on white.

I much prefer the old crest. Just reverse the blue stripes for red and the red area around the stars for blue. And for those who really really hate the “cartoonish” ball, at least keep the ball on it.

And for those who are confused by the stars, I don’t know what to say. World Cup winners have stars above their crest. Lots of nations (Chile, Paraguay, Panama, Honduras, Turkey, Slovakia, Israel, Algeria, Morocco, Senegal, Ghana, and others) already have stars on their crests.

I like it. I think it would have looked good in dark blue too but I'm OK with our second shirt not being a flag color. I think this pair exceeds my expectations from Nike and I'm happy with them.

I'm sure I'm going to end up getting both. Probably wait on the names and numbers as
I want to wait to get the player I most want; someone who has a standout performance.

I'll also get the official sleeve patches and have the game information put on the shirt so it's as authentic as possible. I know I'm overly picky about all that stuff but for me it has to be the right shirt (primary or secondary) actually worn in the match with the correct sleeve patches and game information so it all makes sense when it's done.

in 2022 I put Adams-4 on the blue shirt with the Iran match details just like the real shirts. I have a few of these now and love them.
