thats my take as well. "home"- white/navy/white, ala centennial kit "away"- all navy. use our "historic" elements here if you must- a sash, chest stripes, for the love of god just the star pattern from the denims on all navy kit (anywhere from white to simply sublimated) would be RIDICULOUS (good) third- a variation of the waldos. bold, simple red/white stripes, and either navy shots/white socks or vice versa (my preference)
between this and the MLS new stuff it appears the 80s and 90s and busy jerseys are coming back with a vengeance -- proving my theory fashion runs in 20-30 year cycles. the white is nice and simple. on the road jersey i don't get why we can't find a motif and stick with it.
Nice work! DC United did a third jersey in 1997 or ‘98 which was navy with red and white stripes on both sleeves (kinda like the TB Rowdies of the old NASL). It didn’t fit DCU’s colors, but I remember thinking (and still do think) it’s a good concept for the USNTs.
Oh, that's my favorite part. But, really, more than anything, I'd like to start a TRADITION with our kits. We are always tinkering with our home, away, and 3rd jerseys.
At least the Navy blue kit will help the team camouflage themselves when sneaking amongst their opponents.
If the other blue was the shape of the US or just something besides vomit dripping or paint sploshes Id be more open to it. I dont like the shorts. The white one is a good classic look, as long as we dont have the polo neckline. But Id honestly like to move to someone besides Nike, they just dont come out with very much I enjoy.
Hardly ever seen US kit being very good or sticking to it for many decades like other countries have. Except for usual red white and blue.
Not liking these at all. What is the light blue thing on the front of the jersey? I know I am going to have to explain it to a lot of people so I gotta know.
I couldn’t find the kit on the MLS page. I did find this pic in an article about Nike revealing uniforms for the 2020 Olympics: I like the white/blue/white!! MUCH better, if worn that way, than all-white. I’d like the navy (!!!; not royal!!) blue shirt better if paired with white shorts. Monochrome = zzzzzzzzz. (And without that stupid seagull-dropping splotch!!)
I'm a non American but think the new kits are pretty sick. The white one especially has the clean and classic feel. Plus they have the old school nike logo which is very cool, give's it a nice retro look. Only thing I'm not sure about is the slight v neck lines but oh well. Here are some flicks of them for those who haven't seen it yet. http://bit.ly/2v6r3my
Lose the splotch and you'd have something with the blue. But what are you gonna do? Part of being a US fans is putting up with clownish get-ups.
I like the white one a lot - pretty classy. To the extent that the USA has a "trademark" look, I think it should be a white jersey with some pattern involving both navy and red horizontal stripes - something we seemed to be moving toward in the late 1990s. Even though they're over on the sleeves, the stripes do suggest "USA" to me. I prefer all-white to the white/navy/white - the latter suggests England a little too much. But it looks good. On the other hand, reading transcripts of the meetings where the marketing people decided to put a weird amorphous blob on the navy jersey would probably be both depressing and amusing (much like how I imagine the meetings about the original MLS team names/logos).
I also was partial to the 2017 Gold Cup kit, but without the stars on the sleeves. Given our red white and blue national colors, there are a lot of good combinations we could use. This is my preferred choice. Primary - White/blue/white with some sort of stripe (like the 2014-15 SKC away kit) or piping (like this year's Timbers away kit). Secondary - Blue/white/blue. I actually really like Conrad's kit as a secondary, but I'm not sure if FIFA would allow the white sleeves. I know they have really strict uniform guidelines. Third/alternate - The Waldos, a kit based on Germany's 2014 alternate kit, or the 2006 throwbacks that were red with the blue sash. (I wouldn't mind seeing an appearance of the 1994 denims as a special event throwback.) While I prefer blue over red for socks and shorts, we can have those available for color clashes. My son's ODP team wears red/blue/red a lot, and I like that look. I'm not a fan of the "stars and stripes" motif. We can incorporate stripes in some way to maintain an identity, but leave the stars out of it unless it's the 1994 throwback. I want the US look to be understated and professional for the primary and secondary kits.
