All black? Wasn't that a trend in the NBA back in the 90s? Come on Nike, the 90s are over. USA is red, white, and blue. Stick to those colors....please.
It's only a suggestion Home Jersey: red and white horizontal stripes Short: navy blue Socks: white Away Jersey: navy blue Short: navy blue Socks: navy blue
Ok. Somebody que up the "old man yells at clouds" pic. I am not so naive as to not realize that money trumps all. Still, can our federation not tell Nike, Adidas, whoever that the US colors are still Red, White, and Blue and that's what we expect? However, having said that, this....................was....................hideous:
If fans would flat out refuse to buy the all black jerseys or the dumb neon and white ones , Nike would get the message I would hope. Again, I don't like random colors for national team jerseys in general, but particularly not in a year when we have a major international tournament on US soil.
And so it begins...time to repack all the #MNT trunks w/the new kit. This 2016 @ussoccer gear is sick! You guys will love it! @nikesoccer— Jesse Bignami (@jessebignami) February 17, 2016
"The biggest complaint about the current kits were that they were too plain. This bold new step in the direction of a black kit seems exciting..." I was unaware that black was bold and exciting, I would have guessed black was a plain boring color. I guess all that money I spent on marketing classes was useless.
They mean the change is bold and exciting, not the color black itself. How many national teams have black kits? It's not classically American, but it would undoubtedly give us a unique identity.
Do you think we're going to be able to squeeze all 3 of our flag colors onto a black uni? I'd be impressed. I think black can be "bold", so long as the accent colors are chosen correctly. The all-white uniforms are boring, not because of the use of white, but because the accent colors were terrible (highlighter yellow for the USWNT) or non-existent. If the uniforms are done right, they'll look good. If not, they'll be a black version of our white unis.
LOL, point taken on the Mexico jersey. I always forget about it. Probably because I have a hard time dissociating Mex from green... If you can fit red, white and blue trim on a black basketball jersey, you can probably do it on a soccer jersey.
I have no problem with a black kit, as long as it looks good. I actually would like to see a gold kit.
These are undoubtedly my favorite pair of home/away USMNT kits. Both are absolutely beautiful. Wish we'd have stuck with the red and white hoops.
I wouldn't mind a different Away scheme. Blue with blue-er sash seems kinda dumb to me... I agree, I like the Waldo's though. Closest thing we've had to a "brand name" shirt.
Can confirm that new #usmnt jerseys — and a new U.S. Soccer crest — will be unveiled before March World Cup qualifiers.— Doug McIntyre (@ByDougMcIntyre) February 22, 2016
