Really dislike any sponsors on the training gear. For a long time we had pretty clean and classy training gear.
Still wondering if they have or have not released the tracksuits for the World Cup for the US. Went to my local soccer store and didn’t see anything. Went to Dick’s Sporting Gods and didn’t see anything either.
If you mean the anthem jackets, then yes, they have. It’s a mesh style jacket with a red outer material and a white under layer which kinda gives it a shimmering effect. There’s also a navy blue/silver away jacket, though I don’t think I’ve seen that one for sale. I think the only thing we are waiting on to release is the prematch shirt.
Two notable updates for today’s match: The prematch shirt has been unveiled. It looks very generic and uninspired. White change shorts will be available (always suspected but now confirmed), so we should have no issues with color clashes in the tournament. No reason we couldn’t wear blue shorts vs Senegal’s green. Teams have played WC matches wearing the same colored shorts and blue/green are (obviously) not even the same color.
If you're into these sorts of things: FIFA has assigned the #USMNT to wear its red & white stripes uniform in the opener against Paraguay. It will also wear stripes against Australia before switching to the changed blue kit against Turkiye. pic.twitter.com/uZG1GvmzYP— Sam Borden (@SamBorden) June 1, 2026 Looks like we're going with the look we saw yesterday (stripes with white shorts) for our first two group games before switching to the stars kit for the Turkiye game. Disappointed that we're not pairing the stripes with the blue shorts. Looks much better that way imo.
He says blue shorts for Australia. #USMNT will wear the navy shorts with striped shirts v. Australia in the second game. Australia stripped in all gold/yellow for that one. https://t.co/qOhnaT1Q9R— Sam Borden (@SamBorden) June 1, 2026
If true (and it looks very official to me), our match against Australia would be the first time the USMNT has worn its full first choice kit (predominantly white shirt with navy shorts) at a World Cup since the Ghana game in 2006.
While true, the kits since then did not opt for navy (or royal blue shorts for that matter) as the primary option. Each World Cup kit since then was presented as all white as the first choice option in all marketing and merchandising. 2010 - all white kit with the ghosted gray sash was the primary with white shorts. I think we wore navy blue shorts one single time in this kit’s lifespan and it was for a meaningless friendly. Almost every other match in all white. 2014 - all white polo shirt paired with white shorts. To my knowledge, I don’t think we ever wore any other shorts with this kit. 2022 - similar to 2014, don’t think we ever wore any other shorts with this one, though I do remember seeing some marketing with white shirt and shorts paired with blue socks.
Wow I totally forgot that one. It definitely improved the look a bit. Good call out. My main takeaway was that it’s been about 2 decades since we’ve been able to call white shirt / blue shorts our “first choice kit.” We’ve worn it at times in friendlies (occasionallt with the other kits they release in between cycles like the ones with the half blue and half striped collar, that had blue shorts), but at the World Cup and in most other games, our “first choice kit” has definitely been all white for a long time now. That’s how the kits are presented, that’s the merchandise that’s sold. I’m hopeful 2026 is an indicator they are looking to correct that going forward. They’ve made comments suggesting it may. Hopefully the waldo sticks around long term.
Saw someone elsewhere link to an unofficial Umbro U.S. jersey sold at Sam’s Club and I honestly like it more than the real deal.
The jackets they wore yesterday were awful. The Anthem jackets are good. Still haven't seen anything I would classify as a tracksuit. Maybe the training suit is it.
