Sorry -- unrelated response: Hey Pvan, is your avatar of Lenin on the Red Square building on Houston?
No.....it's the local statue of Vulcan here in Birmingham pre-reconstruction. It's currently being put back up.
Aaaah, .... I guess that would explain the whole "Soccer in Alabama" link ... (he said, smacking himself in the forehead) So, to get back on subject: I have to say I still really like their last record, which kind of surprises me. It's really such a simple album and they're such mega-rock-stars at this point that all my internalized biases and snootiness should be blocking out all appreciation for it at this point. But I still quite dig it, almost every track. I'm sure I wouldn't have bought it if my wife wasn't such a massive fan (even though I saw them open for the J. Geils band, way back when. Hah!). But I'm glad I did.
Wow, thats awesome! People can usually figure out I'm a U2 fan just by looking at my user name. Great news, hope its all true. The last album was awesome, and the tour equally as incredible. Hey pvan4, are you registered on Interference? I am, though I don't post as much as I used to.
I just came across it the other day. I'm registered but yet to post. Too busy looking at BS. U2 is my favorite band as well. Seen them 5 times.
from Hot Press magazine U2 artwork a hoax 24 Jun 2003 U2 designers Four5One and label boss deny that leaked posters for the band's new album are official Contrary to reports that have appeared elsewhere on the net, the company responsible for all of U2's artwork, Four5One, say that they've yet to start work on the band's next album cover. hotpress.com had sought clarification from Four5One's Stephen Averill after a number of respected fansites received promotional posters that appeared to originate from Universal/Interscope in Europe. Along with a ball of fire image, the posters announced that the follow up to All That You Can't Leave Behind would be released on March 8 2004 in Europe and the Rest of the World and March 9 in the US. Says Rapid: "We haven't done any work on the cover yet and Solar isn't on the possible list of titles we've been given." Island International's Steve Matthews is even more dismissive: "It's a complete hoax. Somebody with desk-top publishing obviously has too much time on their hands." While fans are going to have to wait a while for the new U2 cover, all the old ones are featured in a new Four5One book, Stealing Hearts At A Travelling Show. Limited to 2,000 hardback and 4,000 softback copies, it includes new interviews with Bono, Adam Clayton, Steve Averill and frequent graphic collaborator Shaughn McGrath. Copies priced €55.50 and €38.50 respectively are available from www.four5one.ie/form.asp The Hot Press Newsdesk ____________________
