Read an article about Dax McCarty who will be heading to IMG to train with the U17 team. Also will be playing in Europe and in Dallas with them this summer. He is 5'7'' and 140ish . Great vision and very quick and an incredible distributer. When I can get more information I will post.

Pretty impressive stats for a sophomore (18G, 22A in 29 GP). I don't know how classifications work in Florida -- is 4A one of the higher, or lower, divisions? And yes, I know high school soccer is pointless and worthless and etc. etc.

Its not that its "pointless or worthless" but clearly one can't use stats from HS soccer to judge the talent of a kid. My son, who is also a sophomore, had 14 g and 2 assists in 13 high school games this year and the U-17 team hasn't come knocking on his door.

    A different point of view......

What you need to look on this HS STATISTIC is the motivation of a young player, if that motivation go together with speed, coordination and phisical streng you could have a prospect, here is where motivation come, is the kid willing to train like a boxer to be the best? or the not too bad mentality kick in, HERE IS WHERE THE BOYS AND THE MEN SEPARATE!

Of course you can't, but it's still useful to know what kind of schools he's playing against.

really good-looking young player. Excellent vision and distribution skills. Willing to go forward and be direct.

At the most, only 12 of the current residency players will be back which, considering the expansion to 40 players, means 28 new boys will come in. I think, but am not sure, that all five of the invitees playing this week, are part of that, so there will be 23 others coming, mostly 88s I presume.

    is GONE
In Texas, 4a is how schools are classified by who they compete against, by the number of kids who go to the school. 1A-3A schools are small schools; 4A and 5A are the large schools, which are usually better in sports, academic competitions etc. seeing as they have a higher population to select from. I don't know that it's the same in Florida, though!

4A's the highest? I'd guess FL would have a higher population than CO. 5A's the big schools here.

Eskandarian had something like 66 goals in 25 games his Senior year, didn't he?

No, he doesn't go to North.

But Newton North has had quite a team these past few years. This past Fall, Sam Brill, who is on the U-18 National team and wil be going to BC anchored their midfield.

    Wesley Turner

I think one of the best players really starting to raise eyebrows plays down in North Carolina for the U-17 CASL ELite team named Wesley Turner. I got a chance to see him play serveral times over the last month at a couple of tournaments in Virginia and his speed, skill, strength and tenacity is unmatched. I am really surprised he has not been picked up by one the NT programs. The player profile I saw said he was a 1986 birthday.

    Re: Wesley Turner

I would be surprised to see if he was picked up with most of the 1986 year starting college now. Also doubtful Ellinger would even look at another player since he is pretty entrenched with the players he has now for the U-17's.

It was a good thought, I have seen this player and he is very impressive and probably would be an asset to the national team. But doubt anyone is looking.
