what exactly is the UEFA cup? AKA Euro2004..

is it every year or every 2/4 years?

    How big is it?

I know national teams only, but is it only european national teams?

    How do teams qualify?

    Thanks

OK, there is the UEFA Champions League (best clubs in Europe)
There is the UEFA Cup which is actually another Euro club tournament for the almost-Champion types if you will...
AND you are talking about the UEFA NATIONS CUP or Euro 2004, which is held every 4 years.

Germany has been the most successful so far. I think they have three championships. Spain won one... yes in 1964 they did not choke. Denmark and Holland also won once. The tournament started in 1960 with 8 teams playing cup format. In the 70s (or was it 1980?) it changed to two groups of four then semis and finals.

And check this useless bit of info: remember the uniform worn by France in 1998 World Cup? It was modeled after the jersey worn by 1984 Euro champs... France. The design brought them luck for sure... weird...

Ah, yes... only Euro teams participate... that's why it's UEFA!

    Qualifying is like the WC...

so what countries did not qualify?

    When were the qualifiers?

Also...a little off topic...but i was watching fox sports world EPL Wrap-up and they were saying how 2 of the top division 1 teams will move up to the premiership for next season...

does this mean the bottom 2 teams will move down to division 1?!

I've only watching EPL this year so I'm not sure how it works...I thought the same 20 teams are always in it?

What would they have been talking about?

    Thanks a lot!!

Oh, a bunch didn't. Just look at who will be there. . . and then look at the rest of Europe. Scotland, Wales, Ireland all failed on the last qualifier, for example.

Mostly last year (but I think the last few games were in 2004)

Actually 3 teams go up, and 3 go down. This year, Leeds, Leicester, and Wolverhampton will go down and West Brom, Norwich, and a third to be decided in the next few weeks will come up. The same happens through all of the divisions. Three teams from Div 1 will go down to Div 2, and so on.

Kinda makes it exciting, doesn't it?

Word to the wise, though. Do NOT start a thread here saying that you think the MLS should adopt relegation.
