So many of the MLS teams have similar colors. What new colors should be added to the league thru expansion teams? Orange? Purple? Red & Yellow? Blue & Yellow? What colors will the marketing geniuses pick?
I've always liked the old Ft. Lauderdale Strikers ripoff of Glasgow's Partick Thistle. Red and Yellow hooped jerseys with black trim. Galatasaray and Watford stand out in their red & yellow kits. make one of the new teams red & yellow.
Green or Orange, the league needs something different. What colors will the marketing geniuses pick? Which means both new teams will try to project a "hard" and "tough" image by using blue/black or black/red.
Orange! We need some new colors in this league. Orange! Orange/Black Orange/Blue Orange/Green Orange/White we need a team with orange
The same "marketing geniuses" that designed the San Jose Clash uniforms, The Burn uniforms, the original Wiz uniforms, ugh.
I second the idea of a Big Blue.. we need a full blue kit.. see Everton i think.. although i am not sure it is Everton I am thinking off.. my EPL knowledge is limited to Fox Sports World
You know, all of this complaining about how MLS teams only seem to wear red, black, or blue got me wondering. How many Premiership clubs have red, black, or blue in their color scheme? My knowledge of the EPL is also limited, but it looks like at least sixteen. Arsenal, ManU, Liverpool, Chelsea, ManCity, Everton, Blackburn, Newcastle, Birmingham... The only alternatives I can think of are West Ham and Villa. Somebody check my numbers.
you are right.... well newcastle is black and withe in stripes.... that is a little different in colombia we have 3 teams with green, one with yellow, other is purple with gold, and a lot of combinations....
i cant remember all of the teams but these are the ones i could remember Red Arsenal Liverpool Man U Sunderland Aston Villa Charlton Black Newcastle U Fulham Birmingham City Blue Everton West Ham U Chelsea Blackburn Manchester City Other Leeds U Tottenham That all i could remember though
I like the Idea of one club being Big Blue and another being all yellow or gold.. plus, i think the clubs need more prominant sponsores.. like EPL clubs...
More prominent sponsors? Yuck. Prominent sponsor logos look amateurish. We don't need to emulate the worst things about European football. MLS promised Rochester an expansion team if they could get a stadium up, and they just did. The Rhinos will be "promoted" to MLS. They should keep their current uniforms. Don't they already wear green? We don't need another blue team, we already have KC (sky blue), SJ (blue with white sleeves), and now Colorado (blue and black). Columbus is already yellow. We don't have anyone wearing purple, and the only purple pro team in the US in recent memory is the indoor Dallas Sidekicks.
i dont mean like sky blue, i mean Everton Blue... also with the prominant sponsors, i meant who are willing to give more money to the teams, i would be willing to have for example Master Card's logo all around the field or on the sleeve.. Also, if you are 100% against a dark blue and yellow what about a silver?
Not saying that blue and yellow are bad colors. But in a 12-team league (after expansion) there's no reason for teams not to have unique colors. Colorado will be dark blue beginning in 2003, and San Jose, although they have white sleeves, are also blue. Columbus are already all yellow. Also, we will be virtually forced to have a green team, as Rochester will be "promoted" to MLS and I'm not inclined to force them to change their colors. Besides, we just lost our only green team when Colorado changed to blue/black. I'd personally like to see a purple team in MLS. Speaking of which... purple/silver (purple/gray) as a color scheme doesn't sound bad at all.
i thinck that purple/gray is better than purple/silver, but i think that those color schemes are very good..
FYI ok i screwed up on West Ham U. but this looks like red to me! http://store.bigsoccer.com/item.jsp?item=BS_01_AVLH001&category=29 and Birmingham City does wear black http://store.bigsoccer.com/item.jsp?item=BS_01_BIRA001&category=29
Well, no, Birmingham City wears blue. The same kit virtually that Chelsea wears, royal blue jersey & shorts with white socks. That Black jersey you linked to is the away jersey. English teams consider the Home kit as their true kit with the away and the third kits being alternatives. The alternative kits don't often reflect the clubs "colours". I hope philly gets an expansion team and they go with a maroon kit with orange trim, like Roma. I think this was a combination the Phila. Fury used. The Phil. Atoms were white and royal blue.
