Nice, though a little cookie-cutterish. There seem to be alot of similar stadiums being built like that around the world, especially in the UK. Still, I wouldn't kick it out of bed. Bad metaphor? You bet!
Je pense que non. I don't think the Stade de Geneve is English style at all. It is much more "open" in its design. The St. Jakob Park in Basel on the other hand fits the "intimate" British description perfectly.
St. Jakob Park CHF 230 mio. ($170 mio.) for full complex that includes: - small shopping-center - offices - parking garage - restaurants - senior residence Stade de Geneve CHF 255 mio. ($188 mio.) for full complex that includes: - mall - small hotel - parking garage Both stadiums will host 3 games in the 2008 Euro Cup. Btw, the St. Jakob Park architects (Herzog & de Meuron) also designed the new Munich stadium and the new Olympic stadium in Beijing for the 2008 olympics.
I am sure with time MLS will have such stadiums, for now we are happy to have our own SSS as they are .I think with each new build stadium, they will just get better and better. I read that the Galaxy stadium is a copy of the Bayer 04 Leverkusen stadium or similar to it. http://www.bayer04.de/en/bay_3.htm " The BayArena is amongst the most beautiful of Europe’s stadiums, so much so in fact that it is referred to as "The Jewel Case" of the League. "
WHATEVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THE PREFECT MODEL FOR MLS STADIA is Home Depot Center!!!!!!! EUro Snobbery can go stick it you know where!!!!!!!!!!!
The Stade de Geneve is beautiful. I hope when time (finally) comes to design the Metro's SSS they use that as an example (minus about 8,000 seats).
"We already do my dear schmuck!!!!!!!!! HDC in LA! Stop sucking Europes nuts!!!!!" HDC is based on several European stadiums. German great Jurgen Klinsmann actually took the builders, designers, architechts etc. on a tour of several European stadia to get inspiration. It was at Klinsmanns insistance that the roof be put on to hold the sound in also. I am not making this up you can do a news search. Point is, snobs on both sides of the atlantic need to chill.
As much as I hate to admit it, Basel doesn't only have the stadium, they also have the fans to go with it.
Hmmm. That struck a chord. I think we need a new discussion topic . . . What do you want in YOUR stadium?
Coming from a Swiss guy that's funny. Croatia was in the Semis of France 98. Where exactly are you guys???
