Only thing I can think it extended was his premiership appearance record. Playing Nats games wouldn't have affected his longevity in the premier league IMO.
But wouldnt NT games have distracted from it? Fatigue? Injury? Some young stud given a chance at Blackburn or AV because Friedel was tired from qualifying. He saved this from happening by focusing on his club career.
Came across this. I recall a few years ago Liverpool were offering him the no2 spot just as Lloris showed up at Spurs
Grant Wahl @GrantWahl Official: Brad Friedel named US U19 coach. (Will stay with Fox Sports.) Omid Namazi named U18 coach. 3:01 PM - 4 Jan 2016
<sigh> The problem with this is incredibly obvious. He's not going to be frank when he talks about the USSF.
I had no idea we had a u-19m I thought it was u-14, u-17, u-20, u-23 I think the euros have u-21 as well (at least tournaments)
Hmmmm, the other teams seem to be struggling . . . http://www.starsandstripesfc.com/2016/5/2/11567798/usa-u-19s-win-slovakia-cup The United States under-19 national team captured the 2016 Slovakia Cup with a 2-1 win over Russia in the final. Playing at Spartak Myjava Stadium in Myjava, Slovakia, the U.S. went down early when Konstantin Kuchaev scored in the 14th minute. However, the U-19s rebounded one minute later when Nelson Hunsinger tied the match off a Brandon Vazquez assist. Pierre Da Silva won the match and the tournament with a goal in the 65th minute. This is the first tournament win for the U-19s and head coach Brad Friedel. The U.S. opened the tournament and play in Group B with a 5-1 win over Georgia. Danny Barbir, Hunsinger, Vazquez, Winston McKennie, and Ernesto Espinoza scored in the victory. They clinched a spot in the final with a 2-1 win over the Ukraine on the back of a McKennie goal and an Ukranian own goal. The U.S. dropped their final, meaningless group play match to Slovakia, 3-1. Colby Agu scored the U-19s' lone goal.
It's on his Wikipedia page: On January 5, 2016, Friedel was named the United States under 19s head coach.[39] He won the 2017 CONCACAF U-20 Championship as assistant coach of the U.S. team with Tab Ramos and Omid Namazi.[40] Pretty sure it's on a (few) BigSoccer YNT thread(s) too
the thing that gets me is that he was working on his coaching credentials. but would they be lowered/easier to attain to coach youth teams? or perhaps he is just putting off continuing a club manager and whatever requirements those entail.
"Use" is right. There was no intent on my part to apologize. If you're a woman I hope you're as smokin' hot as the women you've lusted after in the Women of the World Cup threads.
you are a testy bugger aren't you? always nice to know an admirer. how about I give you my digits, and you find out
Not sure where else this should be posted, but excellent news in the coaching pipeline . . . Friedel expected to be named Revs coach. According to Goal USA, the Revs have hired Brad Friedel as the club’s new head coach. The job will be Friedel’s first professional club head coaching job after previously coaching the U.S. Under-19 Men’s National Team. The report adds that the Revs also reached out to former USMNT boss Bruce Arena about the job while New York Cosmos head coach Giovanni Savarese, U.S. assistant Pat Noonan, San Jose Earthquakes assistant Steve Ralston and U.S. U-18 boss Omid Namazi were also considered.
Interested in South Africa NT job: Been led to believe that former Premier League goalkeeper, Brad Friedel, is interested in the #Bafana job...The 48-year-old, who has his UEFA Pro Licence, last coached New England Revolution in the MLS. 🇿🇦⚽️ pic.twitter.com/0v445CxW6N— Joe Crann (@YesWeCrann) August 21, 2019
