We have finalized the lyrics and the music for a new song/march called "It's Revolution Time." [It sounds best if you march around the room while you sing it.] I am not a musician by profession - far from it - so please be gentle with your comments.

Here are the lyrics. If anyone would like to see the music, please send me an e-mail at jlw28129@yahoo.com and I'll send a pdf.

    "It's Revolution Time"

    1. Strike the cymbal, bang the drum.
We're New England, here we come.
Get the spirit, march in line.
    ‘cause it’s Revolution time.

    2. Sound the trumpet, bang the drum
    For New England’s favorite sons.
Shout for glory, one and all.
    Heed the Revolution’s call.

    3. Fire the muskets, bang the drum.
    We're New England, number one.
Join the movement, march in line.
    'cause it's Revolution time.

Extra stanza for use after Twellman goal:

    4. Fire the muskets, bang the drum.
    Number twenty’s number one
Add a tally to the sign
    ‘cause it’s Taylor Twellman time.

    John,

If it's "good" (however that may be defined) enough it should stand on its own, no matter how it compares to other chants or cheers. It seems a solid creative effort.

The acid test will come when we can actually hear the music, figure out the tempo, etc. Not really a knock, but the last time I read sheet music was back in 8th grade when I had to learn handbells.

If we have a musician in the mix who perhaps could record some version of the sheet music, I'm sure we could find someplace to post that on-line.

I think handbells would work well!

I would like it better if Tommy and the Terrors did it...

I wonder if the Revs will ever play "Lot 11" on the PA? It is almost certainly the only song in the histroy of commercially-available recorded music to have anything to do with the Revs.

Not bad. At least it got an annoying Justin Timberlake song out of my head. (I thought Launch was supposed to play songs I wanna hear)

I just listened to it and sang along, and I must say that if this song gets popular, I will be very proud to memorize and sing this song at Revs games.

Thanks for the comments. I think I played it a bit too fast on the keyboard. So try slowing it down a bit when you sing it.

Ha! They'll play that when they let us collect $$ in the lot. :)

All the kids would be singing "We're the Army who the *#*#*#*# are you" on their way out.

Good idea John. And Tommy, as soon as you guys get the hymnal together let us know...and the new CD as well. We should support those who support the Revs!

I snickered when I first read the lyrics, but after listening to the .wav file, that ain't bad. Hope to hear it when your club's on TV.

I wouldn't slow it down, though. Some of the better Premiership chants I've heard on TV are sung quickly. Don't make it like the Star Spangled Banner, which was meant to be sung quickly (it was a drinking song), whenever it's sung at a large event by a prominent singer it takes forever. Sing it loud and sing it fast, and it'll stick. Also, find someone with a trumpet that can play the tune so the folks not in the Riders section can hear.

I have to agree with the Truth Commission. I, too, thought the lyrics a bit weak when I first read them, but the tune helps to make them sound better.

What seems to be lacking is the boasting and bravado that comes through most of the chants from the fort. That and few reference points like "the Fort," Foxboro, etc.

But like I said, the tune works. And it will be nice to have a song that is not in any way "borrowed."

Finally, is there no trumpet in the Fort because of security or because of the lack of trumpeter?
