“We made a couple of offers,” said Nicol. “Now, we’re just awaiting the paperwork and all that other good stuff to come through. Hopefully, it’ll happen pretty quickly.” http://nesoccertoday.com/?p=2998
Sounds to me like the players are coming, but as always is the case, the paperwork takes the longest to come through.
FWIW, I've heard pretty much exactly that. Now I'm just curious as to who these players are, and where they play.
Portugese Rui Miguel a possibility? According to information obtained by the DN, this past Friday, a club that competes in Major League Soccer (MLS) contacted Vitoria Guimaraes in order to know the availability of the Portuguese at the end of last week, the Vitoria Guimaraes in order to know the availability of the 27 year old Portuguese footballer for negotiating a possible transfer to the United States. When contacted for the first time at the end of last week by the heads of the club in the MLS the Vitoria de Guimaraes club was receptive to negotiations, and they remain in talks at this time with the leaders of the U.S. team. The next few days or even hours, may be decisive to the outcome of the situation, although the parties have not arrived at an agreement yet. http://www.dn.pt/desporto/interior.aspx?content_id=1769245
Certainly fits the bill... [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=db3tHoIM0Ew"]YouTube - Unique Football Miss[/ame]
Wrong player. That player in the video is Rui Miguel Marinho Reis, who now plays for Kilmarnock in Scotland. The player in question is Rui Miguel Melo Rodrigues who plays for Vitória in Portugal.
Hmmm...this was written on Jan. 28th. Sounds an awful lot like the Portuguese club was contending with roster moves ahead of the transfer deadline, no? Which, as I was saying over and over upthread, is precisely why the European window matters when discussing these acquisitions for MLS. Here it is in black and white. The selling/loaning team in Europe has got to know how much money it has to spend on players and who is on/off the books ahead of the deadline. Now, back that up to Nicol's comments about just needing paperwork to clear and the timing of these announcements right after the transfer deadline makes perfect sense. He sounds like the AM we've been searching for, prime of his career at 27. One can only hope...

I do not speak Portuguese nor do I feel like translating, but it appears, that within the last 6 weeks, he had some sort of arm injury as he is pictured with a cast on. Any details regarding that?
I second this, he did a 5 month loan at Rangers and was absolutely horrid, we were in desperate need of someone for wide left and ended up benching him for youth players and central midfielders.
"Revs do have players lined up but not naming names. At least one Domi-level on the way. Team dynamic changing, definitely." http://twitter.com/#!/frankdellapa/status/32275452282277888
If I even knew what Domi-level is right now, I'd be excited. And does that mean the other one is just a so-so signing that they aren't excited about? In years past I've given the FO some pretty big leeway, but this is the first year that absolutely no sane argument could be made about needing top-line talent to come in. I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt and not getting frustrated just yet...but this is as close as I've ever been to the other side of the fence.
