I hope the team breaks out of mold and buys a player that likes possession in midfield. That would turn on this team.
Wouldn't make a bad 2 or 3 year pick up, but I can't see why he'd want to come to the States and not somewhere where he could participate in European competition.
I would not at all be surprised to see them going after more Serbians. True, but I don't think they've ever considered the European transfer window to be a deadline either. We should ALL keep in mind that they've only made "offers". They might very well not get signed.
And now we're creeping in on a week since McCarthy teased it (and no follow up from McCarthy - whose "I know a secret and I'm not going to tell" act fries my last nerve). I've got no idea if anything will happen on the signing front, but nothing is looking like a distinct possibility. Hopefully the team can get something done.
He either doesn't report things he does know or he doesn't flesh out the things he doesn't know. I really don't care if he's chummy with a bunch of insiders. Bring me news.
Ah, it did, my bad. McCarthy retweeted it. Still, another major team in the Boston area and there would be meat on these bones. And the Revs are doing an excellent job of getting next to no attention over their pursuit of new signings.
The Revs need a striker and a creative midfielder. Hopefully we'll hear something either tomorrow or this week.
That's what's so odd--KC and Heineman have been far more open about their pursuits. Regardless, the Revs could announce to the press that they've signed Alex and Jason Roberts/Samaras and nobody locally would even bat an eyelash. Among actual fans, however, these are the most important signings of the next decade because they speak to the level of urgency and financial commitment of the ownership. This is an enormous moment in the club's history, with so much cap room to spend and DP slots to fill, that it will go down as a turning point in one direction or another for the entire franchise. Kraft will step up and commit resources on par with the top teams in MLS, or else we enter a bottomless rabbit-hole of lame excuses and second-class citizenship in a salary-capped league. What the Revs do or don't demonstrate this week will be key.
Totally agree with what Autogolazo said. I'm a huge Revs fan but this is a very critical time for the club to show that they are fully committed to putting out a winning product on the field.
I'm sure he means foreign (international) vs domestic but I can dream he means two players that have been capped by their countries
The Revs offered 50 for Fernando Torres and 38 for Kun Aguero. That is in thousands of dollars...but hey, at least they tried!
could be two players capped by Bali and Madagascar for all we know. If these two guys turn down the offers I wonder if the Revs will actually comment on it or just move along like nothing happened?
http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2011/writers/ben_lyttleton/01/29/ousmane.dabo/ Another frenchman perhaps?
Insert typical age worries, particularly at the MLS champions of injury NER. It says DM. So we'd be sticking with the Multiple DM approach with SJ playing cameos at AM? I admit it sounds better on paper than SJ + Phelan.
Interesting. Not a player that would fill either of our greatest needs but he and Joseph in a 3-5-2 would be something of note.
FDA floated the idea of Dabo when Domi was signed. It wouldn't surprise me if he's one of the signings. FDA, if I recall, is pretty reliable on these things. If so, it would suggest that Nicol wants the Revs to play the same style (defend and counterattack) as last year, but with better players. I'd assume the second signing would be some sort of central attacking player.
