OT - New Rush Album? I know this is completely off topic and probably not something many of you are interested in, but a few are. According to this site, Geddy Lee told a NJ radio station that they expect to go back into the studio after the baseball World Series. Since I was afraid they weren't going to make another cd, this is great news for me.
Re: OT - New Rush Album? listen kevin, you need to grow out of that adolescent progressive rock infatuation of yours. complex music is for geeks. go play dungeons and dragons!
Re: OT - New Rush Album? Do you think Geddy Lee would be interested in buying a soccer team in TX? We could change our name to FC "The Priests of the Temples of Syrinx."
Re: OT - New Rush Album? Rush was at one time my favorite band. But Vapor Trails (not to mention Feedback) was such a let down to me that this news doesn't have the impact it once would have. I hope they come back with some good material. I will get the new CD of course and at least this means that there will probably be a tour.
Re: OT - New Rush Album? Forget TX! We got a team for sale in Northern California and we already have Canadian hooks. Rush is simply awesome, even though I haven't liked much of their stuff since Roll the Bones. Go seem live... Neil Peart is worth the ticket all by himself.
Re: OT - New Rush Album? Lots of tools in LA... just head to the ToolBox and see 11 of them on the field.
Re: OT - New Rush Album? Cool, thanks, Drum'r. Like a few others, I don't think I've bought a new Rush album in 10 years, but would love to see them on tour when they come around. They always put on a great show and play their old stuff for those that haven't been. I may have to bust out the Presto tour shirt!
Re: OT - New Rush Album? Gonna really date myself here, but when I was in HS "Moving Pictures" was their latest compilation. IMHO, the quality since has declined. Everything before their 2nd live album/CD "Exit Stage Left" was their best stuff. This coming from a very AVID Rush Fan. Seen them twice in 6 months during the "Moving Pictures" era.
Re: OT - New Rush Album? Agreed--After Permanent Waves/Moving Pictures they haven't been as good, although I give them credit for trying to adapt to new technology and keep current. The thing that is most painful about being a Rush fan is that perhaps the worst song they ever did, "Tom Sawyer," is (generally) the only one you can get on the radio. Please, play ANY other song besides this one--so overplayed, when they have so many way better ones.
Re: OT - New Rush Album? I've only seen them once, in Pensacola on the Counterparts tour back in 94. They will always be the masters of progressive rock, and three of the most talented musicians I've ever heard.
Re: OT - New Rush Album? As the biggest YES fan in the Metroplex I feel your pain (Owner of a Lonely Heart) Rush rocks my lame white ass, and everyone else's for that matter. Oh, don't fight it. Accept it before it destroys you!
Re: OT - New Rush Album? [extremely loud volume] like windshield to-wards a fly.... you know how that rabbit feels, going under your speeding wheels.... [/extremely loud volume] -bs
Re: OT - New Rush Album? I have 9 caps, and dammit, on my tenth, they better, please Gawd, FINALLY, PLEASE, they better play Camera Eye. I'm not sure if was before the last tour or the one before that, but the online fan poll for 'most desired song they never play' was a landslide no-contest. And they haven't done it live, afaik, in over 20 years. But they still bring it on stage. Of all those still going from the Golden Age, only the Live8 reunited Floyd, imho, gives the Ontario 3 a run for the 'money' (pun intended). -bs
Re: OT - New Rush Album? There are times when one must aknowlege that a band has hit its stride, and is now past it. I live this everyday with Fields of the Nephilim. Rush hit thier stride with the poltically astute 2112, and found it again with Permanent Wave. Since then, there have only been hints of what was. Some realize this. Bands with more talent than Rush, such as ELP, or more vision (good pun!), such as The Sisters of Mercy, indulge themselves with a 15 minute opus or two, trying to find what they used to have. Rush does not seem to have hit this point just yet. So listen to the old music, an remember what was. If you think that Rush is good in concert, then you have not seen any good concerts. Try the Genitorturers...just do not get too close. Lindy, make sure Drummer Grrl has ear plugs. Forever in black, reveling in the blood. In sangre, veritas. Cheers! Sir Drinxalot, vox fatum and devotee of the Goddess Divia. Tomorrow, Darling. FCDORF. I do, I will.
Re: OT - New Rush Album? I agree that Camera Eye would be good to hear. I'm just glad they've pulled Natural Science back out. A simple kind mirror To reflect upon our own All the busy little creatures Chasing out their destinies Living in their pools They soon forget about the sea... Wheels within wheels In a spiral array A pattern so grand And complex Time after time We lose sight of the way Our causes can't see Their effects
Re: OT - New Rush Album? Now, at last I fall before The Fountain of Lamneth I thought I would be singing But I'm tired... out of breath Many journeys end here But, the secret's told the same Life is just a candle And a dream must give it flame
Re: OT - New Rush Album? Sisters of Mercy? sweet Jesus. *mentally moves Scipio into the dust covered bin formally only occupied by one other person*
Re: OT - New Rush Album? There is a tribute album "Working Man Tribute" done by various, top quality musicians and "Natrual Science" is my fav on it. Devin Townsend (of Steve Vai fame) sings and does an incredible job. In fact I highly recommend this tribute to anyone who wants to hear a slightly edgier feel to some classics. You can find it on Amazon and this page lists the songs and the muscians on each song: http://www.2112.net/xanadu/articles/working_man_tribute.htm Some of the artists include: Mike Portnoy (from Dream Theater... amazing drummer) John Petrucci (from Dream Theater) Billy Sheehan Steve Morse Eric Martin (from Mr Big) George Lynch Stuart Hamm
Re: OT - New Rush Album? Try telling a hardcore prog-rock fan that Rush is prog-rock. Go ahead, I dare ya.
