http://skysports.planetfootball.com...&lid=&title=New+role+for+Zidane&channel=spain Many have been impressed with his performance in the recent pre-season friendly, and it seems Luxa is one of those people, claiming that Zizoi should have a free-role behind the forwards, and should not defend. i like that Luxa realises this. this is the start of the new look madrid. hopefully zizou will once again orchastrate from the AM
I couldn't agree more. Although it has always seemed idiotic to push Zidane to the outside midfield position. Now that they have this figured out(I knew this was his problem a long time ago ), hopefully Zidane will start to look like himself again. He looked great in Chicago...not like a man who should be riding off into the sunset of his career. Perhaps personnel has played a part in not making this happen sooner?
Here here! hehehhe Zizu is fine on the left but it is pretty obvious that he is truly someone that should be in the middle... and it seems that this new realization by the coaching staff is a little obvious and it's amazing that this news is a revelation. To be completely honest, Raul is the one with the better history of playing out on the left and, moreso, played quite well when he was moved out to the left a few times this past year to make way for Owen up top. If Raul is going to be "demoted", he should be put out left. Furthermore, this is more validation in my opinion that if Robinho actually does escape out of Brazil, he should be phased in as Zizu's successor. I know that Robinho is much more of a striker than Zizu is, but if we can't offload Owen, we truly will have too many quality players to just put as strikers. Raul has already been demoted, so to speak, to an AM. For healthy internal politics between all the galactic strkers, Robinho's role as Zizu's successor should be the platform for internal political health. Discussing interal politics does seem a little silly in a futbol club, but there is no other club quite like our Real...
Zizou should have been put in this role along time ago... Last year he was isolated on the left with both Raul and Roberto Carlos also demanding the ball...
Finally. everybody knows this in france for some marketing reason RM had to put all the big names on paper agaisnt zizou real positioning. stupid. at least Luxo seams to be smart and to like the "creative and touch " of zizou. nobody comes even close. whoever you like you must realize that when he touches the ball......it s magic. he has ntohgin to do trying to defend. he cannot. if uxo leaves him there with beck and grave to help get the ball... RM will win everything this year.
He definately should be in the middle of the action and many passes up front should come from his magic feet.
Thank god for this.. its about time he was put back where he does his best work, I can't believe he stayed on the wing for so long. I remember when he was playing for France in Euro2004 under Santini, he was told to stay on the left, but went playing in the middle.. Its obvious he is best there, what annoys me is how much potential RM missed over the last couple of years with him so far out of the action.
I remember Santini doing that too. He is a moron, I swear to God. But like another said, everyone in France knows Zidane is magic. It's like Henry said a few years ago, "when we don't know what to do, we give it to Zizou." This is still evident in RM's games. When the players are unsure where the attack should build from, they give it to Zizou.
hopefully the likes of guti and such are fit to provide back upfor the midfield...im afraid zidane will get probably get tired the way hes running about the pitch. But yeah i agree, the middle is zidanes position..not hte left
I was at the match in Chicago on Saturday and was highly impressed by Zidane. I had not seen him much over the years and thought he was past his prime. I was wrong and really thought that he made the offense work. Sounds like a good idea to me.
Zidane is certainly a genius but, I've noticed that he really needs those other players in order for him to be effective offensively. Like he does a lot of give and go to get through, he doesn't really take on players like Ronaldo or Ronaldinho, meaning he doesn't really do a lot of 1-1's. I guess he plays very intelligent. did that make sense?
Of course he does one on one 's. He is a genius at doing that, but he is also a genius at passing to get through which is what you are saying.
What u said is right except for the one on ones... Valdano once said that the difference between Maradona and Zidane is the Maradona doesn't need a team to perform his magic while Zidane needs players around him to do so! I gotta agree... But I have one thing to say to Valdano... Zidane doesn't need drugs to perform his magic while Maradona does!
Zidane does what's necessary to get the job done(playmaking). His intelligence at keeping an offense flowing is a beautiful thing to watch. 1v1 moves while pretty, exciting, and necessary don't move the ball as effectively or quickly as passing(as we all know).1 v 1 doesn't always mean you have to get by your man, it can be as simple as a holding or possession dribble to draw your man aways and then slip a perfect pass(hence the goal versus the Galaxy where he made a little shimmy to freeze his defender and then played a perfect pass to Owen). Zidane needs the other players offensively just as much, as they need him(they probably need him a bit more actually).
A skill at 1 v 1's is best suited for a winger who has to beat his marker, get to the touchline and whip in a cross. Zidane played on the left, but doesn't have the stamina to be a winger. His strengths are that he's nearly impossible to knock off the ball, that he has a great first touch, and that he has great vision. He's playing well now because he doesn't have to defend. It's up to Gravesen/Garcia to win the ball and either 1) give it to Zidane to set up an attack, or 2) play the ball from side to side, so that one of the wingbacks can take it up the field. So Zidane needs defensive players around him as well as offensive players in front of him to play his best.
Needing other players in front and other players in back. Offense and defense. Sounds strangely like the concept of a "TEAM". While Real Madrid boasts some of the best talent in the world it is ultimately up to the Manager to assemble those parts and devise strategy so that they work well together on the pitch. I think finally Luxa is on the right track even though this "piece" of the team has been there the whole time, just in an improper place.
That makes sense... However, we need a couple more of those team players... There are guys in the team who want to play for money and self accomplishments rather than for the team, and I'm not going to name those guys... I think everybody knows them!
