    Not to hijack the thread...

but, The Midnight Riders are having our "End of Season Party" (yeah it's a little later than usual) this Saturday at the Banshee in Dorchester. All are welcome to attend (21+ though). For those that feel it is tough to get to know fellow Revs fans/Riders in our lot ... well if you can't do it at party... at a soccer bar... which I am personally inviting you to... then I don't know what to say. I'll even buy a beer to the first new face who comes up and introduces themselves. How's that?

thought i might as well contribute some ideas

You guys should show everyone why they should join the Rebellion and what you have over the other SG's. you definitely need to get some good deals like cheaper ticket prices and transportation to away games, discounts, and things like that.

There are also two big things that you should work for (and let everyone know what you are working for so they join the Rebellion to support the ideas):
    1. A change in the stadium arrangements
When only one side of the stadium has seating and the most supportive section of the stadium, the fort, isn't heard because of the opening behind it, the players aren't going to notice the fans energy as much and therefore they wont feel supported. If the stadium had an arrangement like seattle's then it would seem like the stadium is much more full and the sound would travel through the stadium better. the players would feel more supported and the fans would have a better time.

    2. Get the fort moved
If moved to category one or somewhere closer to the field away from the opening in the stadium the fort will be heard better and people would be more willing to join. it wouldn't really be a good idea if the prices are the same as category one prices though, so ticket discounts would be crucial

If people know that you are working for theses causes or atleast interested in them, you could get a lot more attention and a lot more support

I have seen this idea come up before and in all seriousness why would the revolution even consider this? Sure, this would be great for us (MR/RA/Rebellion/Barra) but this would greatly greatly hurt the bottom line of the team.

Season tickets in the Fort (general GA) are $200 right now. Cat 1 seats are $460. Your proposal is tell all the people that are paying $460 to move to WORSE seats and let us sit there for $200 (or even less as you are saying we need more ticket discounts). There are more Cat 1 season ticket holders than there are Fort season ticket holders, so not only would the Revs lose $260 per season ticket but they would also lose many of their highest paying ticket holders because they would give up their tickets if they couldn't SIT at midfield.

Now if you are proposing opening up the other side of the field (130s i think) and move the fort there I don't think that's very viable either because they would need extra security and would need to open up the concessions on the other side. This would also leave both goals with nothing behind them and would cause the same dampening effect that you are currently complaining about. thus leading to more money payed out by the revs and no benefit in atmosphere, a lose/lose.

I agree that it would be nice if we were closer to the field but it's just not viable for the Revs. We all need to remember that at the end of the day, sports is a business and doing something that will result in a pretty significant hit to the bottom line is a good way to go out of business.

if the stadium arrangements do change so they are similar to seattle's then moving the fort to a midsection of the stadium or just away from their current position would be much better. They are just ideas and yeah I know that it's incredibly difficult especially because of the money but somethin should definitely change.

These issues have been talked about for a long time and a lot has been done to try to make this happen. There was talk about moving the fort a few years ago because we wanted a better section that would carry the sound. I think with Pats Place (mainly the hall and CBS Scene) the noise doesn't escape as much as it use to.

    *nerd alert*
The buildings are too far away to have any real impact that we would be able to hear. Decibels are a logarithmic unit that dissipate the farther you get away from the source. In addition, the building materials used in those buildings, particularly the medical center, more than likely are designed to dampen the sound, not reflect or refract it.

Could the buildings have changed the way the wind runs through the stadium? Perhaps that's why I think it's been louder in the Fort since Pats Place has been up. If physics doesn't support that statement then I'm probably just going crazy.

    Thanks Dan.

Also, another negative about moving the Fort from behind one goal to the other ... those stands on the other side are removed for some events. So we could be pushed back quite a few feet, as well as be higher from the ground.

I appreciate the OP's ideas, but as Steve has said ... we've tried this.

The Revs reaction has been, "We'll move you to midfield on the West side of the stadium, but you'd have to pay Cat I prices."

    IMHO ...

    1. Do a mirror image flip of the entire season ticket base to the other side of the stadium.

    2. Tarp off the entire lower bowl's top 10, 15, 20, or whatever rows, so that the total lower bowl capacity reaches 18,000.

    3. Move supporter groups to new condensed midfield location at 109, 110, 111 at $200 per season ticket. Why? The lower than cat one price is justified given the improved atmosphere and improved TV background of excited, standing, supporters.

    4. Create consolidated concession 'cores' to a number that approximates the current spread out approach.

Hire a few more in-stadium folks to support the new approach, or not and live with the status quo, dead zone experience of the current set-up.

That'll be $40,000 for my consulting fee. PM me for address. :D

I could be wrong (as I don't sit at midfield), but I'd venture quite a few of the CatI people would be rather unhappy that they're paying double the price that we would be.

if the 200 dollar season tickets in that section were only for members of SG's then it would be more justified and then the number of members in SG's would go way up. seems like a damn good idea to me

That would require the SGs to get a hell of a lot more organized. I don't know about this new group but I don't think the Army or Barra keep membership lists. I also don't like the idea of an SGs-only Fort.

I honestly don't think the Powers That Be (That Aren't Me) realize the importance of atmosphere to begin with.

I hear ya, but think the idea could be 'sold' to existing season ticket holders in a comprehensive in-stadium restructuring proposal.

As a 14 seat cat one holder, I'd have no problem knowing that supporter section folks on the other side of the stadium would get the same view/location as us at a lower price, but they would 'pay the added price' as it were, of a much greater game day involvement.

Plus, how many existing Cat I'ers would gladly accept a new approach that eliminates the strange blank void they stare into today, for one of excited supporters.

And isn't it likely that this new direct visual just might get these Cat I'ers more 'into the game' as opposed to the current supporter location where they are barely in the peripheral view of current Cat I'ers.?

I don't think you're understanding. I think this would be great for the supporter's groups. I don't think the fans that pay $400 or $450 (or whatever) for the current Cat I seats would be too happy about paying double what we're paying.
Now this is a far argument. I doubt the Revs would go with this though.

Well when i said that the number of people joining SG's would go way up i meant that a lot of Cat 1 season tickets holders would want to join an SG to have their season ticket prices lowered. they might be mad initially but they would have the choice to get a huge discount and alot of them would probably make that choice

    Um yeah. :)
Always a possibility. It'd be interesting to see a survey of the Cat I people ... as to why they sit there. Is it for family reasons, viewing, etc?

Edit: I'll still stick by my comment and the more I think about it, the Revs won't go for this. Why would the Revs want people to cut their prices in half? They might gain a few more season ticket holders out of it, but they'd have to basically double whatever number moved to the Fort to regain that revenue (if 100 Cat I people move to the Fort, they'd need to have 200 new season ticket holders in the Fort to make up that revenue). On top of that, they'd have to open up concessions, get more security, etc.
