    He did look good.
Beat Hartman on one play and then turned and drilled it.
Also chipped Kronberg for a goal and beating his defender. Overall looked good.

On one cross, I think from Eddie, Carlos was taken out right in front of the goal, raised his arm for a foul, but the coaches laughed and yelled somethign to the effect of "this is MLS". Funny.

That's great that he's here and in training. Hopefully all the contract stuff can get sorted out so he can get some time against the Sounders before the season starts.

A couple of links, if that really is the guy:

    His Time at Middlesborough

    Stats

They called him the "next Maradona", but it doesn't seem like it's panned out thus far. He's played for some pretty high-profile teams as well. I'm excited to see him cut up our opposition's midfield and defense.

I was just about to post those same 2 websites. I really like the fact that he's only 25 and he's got quite a bit of experience playing for some good teams like you said.

He really is ugly, though, isn't he. His eyes are too far apart or something. Perhaps that gives him really good lateral vision that increases his ability to find passing lanes? Here's hoping he's got the creativity in midfield that we're looking for.

If he makes us a better team, a championship quality team......I don't give a rat's ass what he looks like. It's not like the Cauldron is loaded with handsome guys either :D. If he can produce, and make those around him better, I have no problem cheering for him!!!

At least he should be safe from Ben.....he only goes for the "pretty boys".

Oh yeah.. I don't care at all what he looks like if at the end of the day we're leading the league.

Just a note, aren't these all leagues that don't track assists?

If he's an A-Mid I would like to see a few more goals but I think we're looking for an assist guy here. Additionally if he's a little bitty A-mid in the Premeirship, then he may get passed over (literally) for the most part; goes back to Boca where the field is completely loaded with the exact same type of player. MLS could hopefully be his niche.

Plus it looks like they're listing in him as 5'8" which in Zavagnin years means he's really 5'6". This will make the runoff between him and Watson a bit more heated as the true leader of the Lollipop Guild.

I don't think you can make any major decision on the guy's play just by looking at that. That list doesn't have minutes played on there at all. From reading the Middlesbrough stuff, most of his matches there looked like they were sub appearances. So who knows, he may not have played that much on the field.

Edit: And I posted this before I read AndyMead's post in N&A basically saying the same thing.

I'll admit his stats aren't that impressive, but the teams he has played for are, so obviously the guy has some talent.

Plus, I'm just happy we're going to sign an honest-to-god central midfielder for the first time since...uh, Preki?

If he had scored a lot of goals in those leagues he'd still be there playing in those leagues and we wouldn't have him. Also like Beech and Kuhnscoot said just because he didn't tear up the epl (at the age of 17) or the argentinean league doesn't mean he won't be good for us in MLS.

At one time Marinelli was touted as the next Diego Maradona.

So... assuming we are signing Carlos to be a starter...

    This lineup?
    ----------Kevin---------
    Jack--Jimmy--Nicky--Jose
    Davy----Sasha----Micheal
    ----------Carlos---------
    ----Eddie----Scott-------

    or this one?

    ----------Kevin----------
    Jack--Jimmy--Nicky--Jose
    --------Kerry?-----------
    Davy--------------Micheal
    ----------Carlos---------
    ----Eddie----Scott-------

    Or maybe Sasha for Micheal?

I thought one of those MLS previews that was posted in the last couple of days stated that Sasha was expected to move out wide this season.
