He says he has not spoken to Montella or anyone at the club besides the Della Valles. We're linked with all the unemployed Italian managers. He says he wants to try to keep Chiesa.
I like that he at least has a footballing background, not many football club owners do! I found a few items from the early-1970s when he was in the Columbia University team. Edit: Hmm, the pictures don't show up. That's strange...
He says he made his first offer to the Della Valles back in 2016. He also said the club will be participating in an American tournament this summer. Last time they came I was living in Boston and got to see them play Benfica In Hartford. Now I'm out west. We'll see.
He says he'll try. I buy that. I don't think he'll stay, though. Maybe if the club had changed hands earlier and Commisso had already had the opportunity to bring in some other pieces.
sucks ass he'd be leaving for Juve, though. I actually really like the guy. What are they gunna do with Montella?
Rocco looks like a badass presidente, okay. I like his New Jersey "Sopranos" personality alot. He's a winner and a fighter. New Seaon please
Gattuso wouldn't be awful, either. He'd give you an identity instantly, and the players seem to love the guy. Obviously not the guy to put you over the top, but he can get you back to pushing for Europe, imo.
Thought he did really well, for the most part. Talk is cheap, but I'm buying some of it at least. “Without revenue you can’t sign players, but without good players you don’t make revenue." Ain't that the truth. “I’m not an oil man. I’m someone who earned their own living. I saw Inter and Roma, they increased their revenue and we have that potential. “Juventus turn over €450m, we turn over €100m: it takes time.” Good, he gets it.
Prade is officially back as DS. Not devastated but not thrilled, but I'm even less thrilled about the prospect of Vinny coming back.
Damn, I was kinda hoping for Rui Costa. Prade's not bad, really. Maybe we'll see a better version with ownership that actually gives a shit.
I thought he was really good right out of the gate with Borja, Joaquín, Pepito, etc... I don't recall being thrilled after that first summer, though. It'll all be wasted on Vinny, though, so it's sorta a moot point.
haha if they do keep Montella, he'll have an extremely short leash with a new DoF. Prade didn't hire him, so he won't have egg on his face if he cans Vinny's ass 10 weeks into the season. The most important thing for Prade this summer is holding onto the talented kids you guys have assembled, imo.
https://www.football-italia.net/139821/commisso-want-entertaining-fiorentina "There is a long list of players and a lot of work to do. We inherited a situation where there are 46 players on the books, so we have to whittle that down." Damn, no doubt. https://www.football-italia.net/139800/commisso-chiesa-stays-fiorentina “My motto is fast fast fast. I am trying to get everything done as quickly as possible so we have the right people in the right positions. However, I haven’t had any contact with Umberto Gandini.” A lot of new owners make this mistake in sports. Fiorentina can no doubt improve next season, but rushing the process is rarely a good idea. I'm excited to see what happens, but I also know how sports work. Milan dropped 200m and still sucked ass. For me, keeping the crucial young players is the most important thing, then continuing down the path of building a young core to grow together. However, this time, with new ownership, you have the opportunity to keep the team together.
