Yup, this was posted just today at Chivas.mx
It seems Antonio and Lorenzo Cue have been ousted by Guadalajara owner Jorge Vergara
    Here's the translated press release.

Jorge Vergara and Angélica Fuentes formally acquire Antonio and Lorenzo Cué's remaining shares in Chivas USA

Los Angeles, California. - Chivas USA has announced Wednesday that Jorge Vergara and Angelica Fuentes acquired the remaining 50 percent ownership of its former partners, Antonio and Lorenzo Cue, making Vergara and Fuentes majority owners of the Chivas USA MLS soccer team .
The Cue brothers were current operators of Chivas USA. Jorge Vergara and Angelica Fuentes have owned 50 percent of Chivas USA and have been part owners of the club since its creation in 2004.

"We are delighted to acquire the remaining 50 percent of Chivas USA" noted Angelica Fuentes. "We are very excited about the future that Chivas USA will have" added Vergara.

In addition to Chivas USA, Jorge Vergara, President of the Board of Management of Grupo Omnilife - Chivas and Angelica Fuentes, Executive Chairman of Grupo Omnilife - Chivas, since 2002, own one of the most successful soccer clubs in Club Deportivo Guadalajara, known as Chivas.

In addition to being part of its creation in 2004, co-owners of Chivas USA, Antonio and Lorenzo Cue collaborated with the various ownership groups in MLS in leading the American league to grow from 12 to 19 teams in the United States and Canada.
"It was a great honor to be in the MLS and we are very proud of the role we have played in the growth of the league," said Antonio Cue, "We have enjoyed our time at Chivas USA and we want to thank our fellow partners, owners and the league office ".

"Chivas USA entered the MLS in 2005 in a critical phase for soccer in North America," said MLS Commissioner Don Garber, "Antonio and Lorenzo Cue have been great passionate owners, in addition to being our partners for the past 8 years. I want to thank the Cue family entirely for their support and confidence in U.S. soccer. I look forward to working closely with Jorge and Angelica as new partners in this Club”.

    Fun times ahead...

How did the wrong guy stay? Vergara had nothing to do with the way the Cues operated this Chivas USA team straight to the ground. The fact of the matter is this was Antonio Cue's franchise since it came into the league. Vergara's focus was always mainly Guadalajara. Seems Vergara had it with Cue.

    Dream scenario:

MLS adopt a salary cap based on each club revenue. (35% of club revenue = maximum salary budget).

A rich owner (Qatar or UAE) buy Chivas USA. Rename it Los Angeles Futbol Club and spend money on marketing and other initiatives to improve revenue. With improved revenue, the club can spend more on players. A reinforced-cycle.

There is more potential for growth for a club based in Los Angeles than a club based in Mexico City in my opinion. With 10 million plus Latinos in LA, the sky is the limit especially if spending is directly tied to a club revenue. (35%).

Now they just need to move the team out of the Home Depot Center.

That dream is pretty lame especially a salary cap based on individual club revenue. Should stay as it is until the league grows more, then be based on league revenue...

Because they'll still be a cheap knockoff of the Chicas de Guadadalajaja brand.

Maybe so maybe not. It could have been Cue who insisted Chivas USA stay Chivas. Vergara certainly didn't try to expand the Chivas brand when he owned Saprissa.

They'll only still be a cheap knockoff if they don't start to win. The Cue's inability to execute is what what led to that original perception in the first place.

Nope that was Vergara and the reason behind that decision is due to the close proximity of both teams in terms of one being simply a border from the other. The bottom line is this though, just as Red Bull name their teams in Austria, Germany, Brazil, and MLS the RED BULL, as long as Chivas USA is owned by whoever owns CD Guadalajara, this team will always have the Chivas brand associated with it in official form. Quite frankly, no one should have a problem with that when the focus should be improving the on-field play

I imagine he bought Saprissa unlike creating ChivasUSA, he has to realize that this experiment failed, if they don't rebrand than I hope nothing but failure on that team.
    1. rebrand
    2. move not as chivasusa
or 3. fold and go away

This team as-is is not good for this league.
