Any other fans in here? I think Substance has to be the oldest CD in my collection. The other day I was listening at work and realized it is also the only New Order CD I have.

I don't know much about the band, but if someone has some pointers on a few other good tunes they've put out, post it here. I'm looking to add to the collection.

Well, if you really want to start, read the book by Claude Flowers called Dreams Never End. Good book.

As for the songs....we could be here all day. Suffice to say picking up Best of New Order will help you out, but you already have Substance which is pretty vital. I would pick up Power, Corruption and Lies next if you don't have it, (then, really, Electronic by Electronic), followed then by Technique and Republic (if I had to semi-rank them). I didn't like Get Ready, their latest album as much as the others. Movement wasn't really a New Order cd as much as it was a "Joy Division without Ian" cd, but it's interesting.

I made a mix CD with songs from Joy Divison, Electronic and New Order, (called Sumner School, (aren't I clever? No.)) which contains the following (it's not really a collected greatest hits, and it's not in any real order, I just wanted to combine some stuff):

    1. Soviet (Electronic)
    2. Digital (Joy Division)
    3. Dreams Never End (New Order)
    4. Love will tear us apart (Joy Division)
    5. Transmission (Joy Division)
    6. Getting Away With It (Electronic)
    7. Idiot country (electronic)
    8. Reality (electronic)
    9. Tighten Up (electronic)
    10. Gangster (Electronic)
    11. Try all you want (electronic)
    12. Some distant memory (electronic)
    13. Round and Round (new order)
    14. bizzare love triangle (new order)
    15. blue monday 88 (new order)
    16. Vanishing Point (new order)
    17. that's the price of love (new order)
    18. Age of Consent (new order)
    19. true faith (new order)
    20. 1963-95 (new order)
    21. regret (new order)
    22. World (new order)
    23. Ceremony (new order)
    24. Ultraviolence (new order)

Hopefully that will help you fill a gap or two in your Kazaa searching.

To make a true compiliation would require 2 cds, one all New Order and one Joy Division/Electronic with about 35 songs, but anyway.

It had it's moments (Rock The Shack in particular) but it was somewhat of a disappointment when compared to their back catalogue.

I can't believe you missed "Atmosphere" off your compilation though.

The hell with New Order, Joy Division was much better!

Anyone watch "24 Hour Party People"?

Don't forget to check out stuff by Revenge, The Other Two and Monaco while you are at it. None of it is necessarily essential but there are some good tracks out there.

I would have added "Face Up" (New Order) to that mix as well as maybe "Twisted Tenderness" or "Make it Happen" (Electronic).

Just rented the DVD a couple of weeks ago. Pretty darn good movie. The Joy Divison show scenes were quite incredible. The movie didn't focus to much on New Order, visually anyway.I could of used a little bit less of the Happy Mondays. 24 Hour also didn't take it self so seriously which was quit refreshing.

I love New Order. I like Joy Division better though.
