New name for US mens board

Having dared to criticise the American boys after the Holland-US friendly, I was accused of being an arrogant Eurosnob and a troll. Subsequently one of your mods asked me kindly to stay away, using only 'you are trolling' as an argument, without giving examples (as there weren't any examples to give, of course).

It's become clear to me that the US mens board was intended more as a love nest for Americans who would consider it unpatriotic to criticise their own national team, and who are paranoid about others criticising them in the manner of President Bush's 'if you're not for us you're against us' dogma.

I'd therefore like to suggest that you rename the US mens board something like 'self-congratulatory footy board for Americans only', making it clear to us Eurosnobs that we don't really want to go there and thus creating a win-win situation. You know it makes sense.

Or conversely, we could name it "piss off, you dickbag" thus making it clear that you are a tool.

When talking about a war, where young American men are sacrificing their lives, somehow "you're either with us or against us" seems to me a logical thought. There are no neutrals in a war.

What this has to do with people like you coming around and trying to provoke angry responses on a rather trivial topic like soccer with your ignorant, arrogant and effete mewlings passes understanding.

You flatter yourself, Mango; the problem isn't that you disagree with others; the problem is that you're a jerk.

(PS: Anybody who has over 1400 posts in two months really needs to go get a real life. Talk to an actual woman. Interact with humans. People as obsessed with the internet as you obviously are need professional help)

I have no problem with that. I merely wanted to point out that posters on that specific board get outraged for no reason other than their NT being criticised. Which I find rather pathetic. And childish.

I'd respect you more if you'd just tell me you don't like me Nancy.

This obsession with how many times I've posted on this board so far makes me think this is a forum for dull accountants. What business is it of yours? I'd like to discuss with you how football is hardly a trivial matter (for the entire world with the exception of the US), btw, but let's save that for some other MB.

Oh, and I am a woman. It might be a good idea to stop judging people you don't know a thing about.

    I apologize.

I forgot that Holland is a world mecca for the transgendered.

Then how about going out for coffee? Taking a walk? Maybe get a dog.

I'm sorry but posting 30 times a day is just obsessed. It's not healthy. It calls into question the stability of your thoughts, and your frame of reference, to say nothing of your intelligence, social skills and emotional well-being.

So when you pollute Big Soccer with your Kafkaesque prattle it does indeed become other people's business.

Listen, let's put it this way: you're a sad, lonely loser hunched over a keyboard somewhere (BTW: Holland? I doubt it. Female - not a chance) doing your best to get an emotional response out of anonymous people for entertainment as a substitute for real human interaction.

    It's pathetic.

"Trivial" was refering the soccer in comparison to a war, which YOU of course JUST HAD TO BRING UP on a soccer board...

Listen, go ahead and criticize the US mens team, all you like. There are plenty of forums in rivalries where people just like you are chomping at the bit, wringing your hands in the local cyber, umm uber cafes just salivating over some American making a dumb comment..

Quite sad if you ask me; the obsession of non-americans have over trying to put "one over" on a yank. Simply mind boggling how you folks spend hours of your days in the rivalries looking for chances to put us down..

    1. I have a dog.

    2. I only post from work, I don't even have an Internet connection at home because get what? I do have a life! Hurrah!

    3. There are people on this forum who know for a fact what I look like and where I work. If you want I can put you in touch with them, I wouldn't want you to feel all confused about me being man or woman or actually Dutch or not, and get all worked up about how vile and annoying I am.

    4. While I am genuinely female and Dutch, I wonder why either of those facts should be of any consequence to you. Does it matter what and who I am? This is a message board, not real life. I judge my fellow posters on the messages they post, the rest is of no interest to me whatsoever.

    5. Your comments reek of misogyny.

If you could explain to me how and why criticising your national team is synonymous to trying to put 'one over' on a yank, I'd be grateful.

Head on over to rivalries. You will see an entire slew of posters just waiting for an American to slip up or make a mistake.

IF I put you in this category prematurely, then I take it back. But posting non-constructive criticism in the US forums (especially drawing politics into it) is bound to get you flack..

Since Huss asked me to be careful about language, I'll have to refrain from wondering aloud what purposes you have found for domesticated animals.

Must be a hell of a challenging job, since it doesn't require you to use any time working and doesn't pay enough that you can afford a computer.

I never said you were vile, but if I took a poll I'm pretty sure "annoying" would be way up there.

Your personal sexual identity is honestly of no interest to anyone. Live like you wanna live.

Now there's a coincidence. You're of no interest to much of anybody either. What were the odds?

But if you keep protesting how female and Dutch you are, the one conclusion people will come to is that you're not really female or Dutch.

    DING DING DING DING DING

    AT LAST!!!!

Jeez, I have to say I admire your restraint. Took you five long, boring, repetitive, simpering paragraphs to get there, but you made it.

See, I know the drill now. I'm supposed to say "why goodness, ME??? I am not! No way! Why I even ttalk to women sometimes and everything!! Really!!! I'll "put you in touch with some of them""

Sorry. Homie don't play that liberal crap.

Couldn't you ahve worked "racist" or "homophobe" into this too? That way we can go for the holy trifecta of idiotarian argument.

    Imbecile.

Those damn liberals! You just can't argue with them because they, without fail, slap labels on you when they run out of arguments! Oh, those presumptious liberals! They don't even realize that being liberals is a bad thing! Those liberals and their labels!

See, this this is an example of why I never tire of Big Soccer.

    You always learn something.

Take this post for example. I didn't realize the term "liberal" was in some way pejorative. I rather fancied it was a descriptive term, used to identify a group of people holding a particular set of political beliefs.

Now, come to find out, calling someone a "liberal" is an example of "name calling".

It's funny though. I recall when there used to be LOTS of liberals around. Weren't ashamed of it, either. Hell, my brother is the smartest guy I know - a distinguished Vietnam era Naval Officer, Summa grad of an Ivy League college, edited the Law Review at Yale, Chief Corporate COunsel for a major US Corporation - and he'd be glad to tell you he's a liberal. Major fund raiser for Democrats, State Chairman for left-wing candidates, hell, the guy's practically a Red for God's sake.

But here on BS, apparently we need to add "liberal" to the list of words like ********, ************, ****** and ********er that get bleeped by the autocensor.

Jeez, I love this place. Helps keep me up to date.

    Thanks, BigSoccer!

Bill, I'm going to do something I don't do very often on these parts and put on my Serious Hat 3000 (TM).

I am one of those unabashed liberals that you reminisce about, and I certainly wouldn't feel the least bit insulted if someone on the street were to refer to me as a flaming liberal. I'd take it as a compliment.

But in the context of your post, "liberal" is clearly an insult, not by definition, but because of the characteristics you attach to it. The implication is that the reliance on simplistic name calling is a defining feature of liberals.

Let's put it this way - Say you stood outside a NAMBLA meeting and complained about gays molesting children, and you were known for frequently making negative remarks about gays. If your gay companion (platonic, of course) objected to your comment, are you going to accuse him of being a self-loathing homosexual?
Or you were reading the paper and saw that your buddy Pedro was arrested for shoplifting and you remarked "Ah, took him long enough to get arrested, that old chap! He is a Mexican after all. They should check his buttcrack to see if he's hiding any stolen hubcaps! Such a Mexican, isn't he?" - Will you accuse your roommate Rafael of being ashamed of his Mexican heritage if he voiced his complaints?

In short, stop playing dumb, you know what you meant. "My brother's a great guy and he's a liberal" is just a few blocks west of "I work with plenty of gay people. I couldn't possibly be homophobic!" in the Unintentional Humor District.

Now, I realize you're smart enough that I don't have to explain all this to you - it's just easier to play the "You liberals have no spine" card rather than admit that maybe, your kettle is just as black as Johan Neeskens' pot. I understand, you have your Grumpy Old Guy routine and you don't want to stray from character.
The reason for all this is that I'm reaching out to you. Listen, just between you and me, if this tough guy act ever gets to be too much and you need a shoulder to cry on, you always have my shoulders to cry on. I'll keep my PM inbox clear for you. Just call my name, I'll be there.

    Hugs and kisses.

Bill Archer should be Yellow carded. All I have seen is him trolling on the boards.

Stop picking fights with other ppl in here Bill, can't you see it pisses ppl off quite a bit.

What is needed is a bit of maturity because all we are getting is fight after fight after fight. There is too much bitchiness going on in here. People will leave if you keep this going.

    Stop this madness please!!!!!

What on earth does this have to do with Customer Service? It's ironic that this should be the most visible forum to the administrators, yet it has gone on for so long.

Also, where is the correlation between the post count on these boards with a person's maturity level? Experience on these boards ain't the only kind of experience a person needs to carry out a civil dialog.

Well Bill, I've never been able to figure out why you feel the need to fight with people online. You tend to rile a lot of folks up. Frankly, I can't believe you, or any other self-respecting person of intelligence would use the word "Homie." But then you come up with a gem like "Idiotarian" and it makes up for all the other crap.

For your sake, I'm hoping that you meant by this that you were going to wander off into incomprehensible blather.

Because you follow this with three absurd yet lovingly crafted scenarios, including one where I'm standing around outside a NAMBLA meeting with a "platonic" gay freind.

I'm not sure, but are we out there because they ran out of seats, or are we just grabbing a quick smoke?

Still, it's better than the one where I seem to be chatting up some Mexican fellow about what's stashed in his butt crack.

Had you just come from an all-night Fellini festival when you wrote that? Only explanation that comes to mind that doesn't involve huge quantities of psychotropic drugs.

Just for the record, though, I didn't say my brother was a "great guy" - I pointed out that he was not a stupid guy, a point which you'd have picked up if you weren't busily crafting another tortured metaphor employing homosexuals.

Thankfully, that time you didn't mention NAMBLA or butt cracks.

I'm guessing that you intended all this to make a point of some kind, aside from inviting me to cuddle with you, (an invitation which, I'm sorry, I'm going to pass on - I mean, we hardly know each other - but thanks anyway)

As for the typical argument technique of the left - characterize the person you disagree with as something demeaning and use this as a rationale for ignoring thier opinions, I'm afraid that your post served only to illustrate my point.

I'm sorry if you thought I was implying that you were actually at the NAMBLA meeting. No no, you and your platonic gay companion Gavin were at the cultural annex taking a night weaving class when you happened to pass by the NAMBLA meeting. I hope this clears things up for you.
I've already used the black pot/black kettle thing (but FYI, I too have a kettle Bill, black and beautiful, just like yours) so I figure I should make some comment about trees blocking the view of the majestic forest.

And I know you're still in your Grumpy Guy mode, but my invitation for a hug session remains open. I know you mean well.

I'll take your word for it, but why Eddie and I would be learning about doing hair is beyond me. He obviously doesn't care about his at all, goodness knows.

Now, Edson Buddle and I did take that decopage seminar together, but that was years ago.

If this black/pot thing is a subtle reference to Jeff Cunningham, you'd better be prepared to back that up, pal.

Only God can make a tree.

Look, I don't want to hurt your feelings, but I just don't like you that way. Can't we just be, you know, freinds?
