During the last couple of MLS games, I have noticed some new advertising boards (I forget what they actually call them.) on the fields. I have seen Radioshack and AT&T Wireless. Are these the companys that Don Garber mentioned that would be advertising with MLS. Do any of them consider becoming partners with MLS. Since many of you might know the details or can find out please post because this might be good for the league.
remember that teams control the sign boards... so they might have deals with companies that mls doesn't have deals with
I believe that Radio Shack is a league-wide deal because I've seen their signboards on TV at every stadium. But I never saw any announcement. However, I think that AT&T Wireless is pretty much just a local deal for the MetroStars and for DC United.
Hey, ElJefe, I've been meaning to ask this question: Who were the Medeival Times that I saw last year on the signboards at Burn games?
I believe, however, that ADT is for real. They sponsored the halftime shows during the World Cup, and their signage was facing towards the camera during the United-Burn game on 9/19. I would venture a guess that the ADT logo will be on the backs of United jerseys next season. ADT, security, homeland, all that jazz.
Medieval-themed dinner theater. Basically, it's an arena where there was jousting and stuff. (All fake, of course. Sort of like pro wrestling.) Meanwhile, the patrons are seated at tables around the arena, and about 10 feet about the floor, eating a big-ass meal with no utensils. They used to provide the black Andalusian stallion and rider for the Burn's mascot. But now, the Burn are sponsored by the Las Colinas Equestrian Center, who provide a black Arabian and rider for the Burn's mascot. Frankly, I liked the stallion better than the Arabian. It was a horse with some substance, some "oomph," as a opposed to the Arabian's more "graceful" lines.
ADT was brought on through SUM I believe and when this was announced, they were to take over sponsorship of DEFENDER of the year. By the way, how does a "league" run team like Dallas end up with Frosted Flakes on their Jersey and investor-operated team like DC end up without one?
Simple: MLS wants $10K per game for DC and a smaller amount for Dallas. DC, Galaxy and Metro have the highest shirt rates. Sachin
I saw those. Somehow Frosted Flakes just don't go well with a soccer uniform. I mean, really. Just what kind of a tough guy image do you get with 'Frosted Flakes' plastered all over your back???
Because they need to wash up their mouth... You should hear the obscenities and profanities pronounced all over the track...
advertisers as far as kelloggs and frosted flakes go, im just glad MLS has a big sponser like kelloggs. a lot of potential signage in stores if they could get the mls cup winner on a box of frosted flakes. i wouldnt mind having frosted flakes on the back of my jersey.... BUT... "tampax" on the back of my jersey, i might have a problem with.. leave that for the WUSA
Re: advertisers lol, i was actually going to post the same thing for "tampax" the other thing is that i'm not sure if you knew that frosted flakes did have the earthquakes on their box after they won the title... i got a box for that very reason (liking frosted flakes didn't hurt either though) -jim
Or Monterrey. And what exactly is BIMBO? Another cement company. Personally, I don't have a problem with a bimbo draped all over me.
Bakery. They make packaged cakes and pastries and stuff. They're sort of the Hostess of Mexico. I've seen their stuff at the bigger grocery stores here in Dallas, so I'm sure you can get it there in Austin.
ADT is a corporate partner for MLS, which is a level below official sponsor. http://www.mlsnet.com/content/02/mls0801adt.html http://www.mlsnet.com/partners.html I stopped paying attention to this stuff a while ago, but is is me or does the list of official sponsors look a whole lot less impressive than it used to especially considering one of the is the US Soccer Foundation? Andy
They also did this for the Wizards when they won. Both sets were slightly regionlized in their distribution pattern. Kellogs also has had players on the cover. If memory serves, in year one I believe Ramos, Lalas, Campos and Valderamma all had their own boxes. Andy
