MEXICO CITY, Mexico (AP) -- The Mexican government has issued a postage stamp depicting an exaggerated black cartoon character known as Memin Pinguin, just weeks after remarks by President Vicente Fox angered U.S. blacks. The series of five stamps released for general use Wednesday depicts a child character from a comic book started in the 1940s that is still published in Mexico. The boy, hapless but lovable, is drawn with exaggerated features, thick lips and wide-open eyes. His appearance, speech and mannerisms are the subject of kidding by white characters in the comic book.

Memin Pinguin? Wow! Wonder if Jesse would like some?

    Those are pesos gringo.

I remember a recent story of the Japanese bringing back comic books featuring Sambo.

Those plus the stamps ought to bolster your collection ITN.

And the White Bread Foundation wanted to recognize you for this attempt to drive another wedge between brown and black peoples. With an honorable mention for posting racially offensive material under the guise of a legitimate discussion issue.

    Shall we dance?

I tried collecting stamps as a youngster. I think it started when I looked through my aunt's ragedy collection of stamps from around the world. She had lots of colorful ones depicting animals, historic places, etc. So I ordered stamp packets for a while from the back of my Boys Life magazines.

ITN aside, the stamp is very offensive and should be withdrawn for circulation.

Clearly. It gave him opportunity to make an unclever Jesse Jackson joke.

Cause, you know, he's black. And so is the kid on the stamp! Get it???

    LOL that was funny.

I do wonder though given Fox's statements in the not so distant past about Blacks in America. Maybe this is just pre WCQ fodder?

I guess we've solved racism in our country, it's time to turn our attention abroad?

It's perfectly moral and reasonable to be against racism everywhere.

Emm have you ever watched Mexican TV? Anyone on there remind you of the guy cleaning your office? I didn't think so :D Racism outside of the Western world is, well, normal. Everyone in the world hates someone else's guts for no particular reaon, -- everyone outside of Western Europe and North America, really.

Here, we're perhaps too busy eating curry, Chinese carryout, and Taco Bells, to hate the dirty Sikhs, Asians, or Mexicans.
