For those of you who don't know me, my name is Roger, and I was invited to go to United games by Vicky and Dave in May. Since I started atttending RFK matches, they have not lost at home. Coincidence? I used to attend matches back in 96 and 97, then I got married and drifted away. My bad. I have been to all the home games since then, plus the road trip to Giants Stadium. I must say I have met a bunch of great people, and twice as many hooligans. Quite often, they are the same. I have just posted a bunch of pix from 10-09 (against Revs) thru last week's fantastic conference final on the BB site. I am posting this thread here because I have also met a lot of friends in the SE and they are represented in these shots as well. All of my posts have captions and are at the end of the pages, since it took so long for my sorry ass to get these edited and uploaded.

Important question: I also have some avi movie files, one is of the tribute to Duffman and one is burning the Scum scarf. Where can I post these so that all United fans who are interested can see them?

Thanks. Go Azzuri! Forgot to mention that you should all look at the pictures of Mike L. and Dave V. taken during the shootout portion of the last game.

Does the screen name come from the movie "The 13th Warrior"?

Negative. I took it from the old Nordic saga "Beowulf." The name of the Danish king was Hrothgar. That was the ancient version of my given name.

Got it. But I am almost positive that one of the Vikings in the movie has the same name.

I too love the avatar. :)

There was one and the movie was a semi Beowulf rip off.

As much rip off as it was an intent to bring Crighton's Eaters of the Dead to the screen.

Crighton hypothesized that the Vendol were some of the last Neanderthals to survive the spread of modern humans. Whether the Vendol were the basis for Grundel (sp.), I haven't a clue. But I can see the similar 'hero defeats the oversized beast' theme in both stories. Hard not to avoid the comparison.

I enjoyed the movie, but I wish the DVD had some of the deleted scenes.

My understanding is that Eaters of the Dead is based on Beowulf.

Oh, and welcome aboard, Roger. :)
