Roeder is out as of today. Who do you want in charge? What type of tactics? Any ideas?

I think that at this point what we want is academic to the result. Ladbrokes have suspended the option to bid on Sam Allardyce as the next Newcastle manager. A spokesman on the website stated "it's not a case of if, but rather when".

Personally, I'd be happy with a number of people... Sven and Big Sam being in the mix.

I already outlined my argument for Sven but here it is for those who didn't see it in the other thread...

Sven is my top choice at the moment but I'm going to explore some other potential candidates.

I think it would be stupid to believe that Sven isn't the best possible option. I just am not so sure Sven wants this job.

I agree although I'm not an England supporter which may cloud the issue for a lot of Geordies. My honest opinon is that England is/was overrated and Sven took them as far as he could but in the end the players couldn't get it done.

Sven waiting for a big club

The key to this is get him locked up before other opportunities open up. Chelsea, Spurs ....etc.

Well, maybe I'm not half as insane as I thought, or you're all as insane as I am. One or the other. :D

I don't think that a 'big' job is going to open up anywhere but except maybe Munich or PSG. I don't see Chelsea replacing Mourinho, simply because I think they would have a queue of transfer requests including guys like Lampard and Terry if they did.

But even if they do make changes around other clubs that I don't expect, why not aim for one of the best, if not the best, available? I doubt we'll be able to coax someone in power elsewhere like Strachan or Hitzfeld to come here, so grab an unattached manager with a strong CV.

At least Sven isn't the bung artist Big Sam is....or has he sued the BBC yet..?? bad move for Newcastle to hire the self styled "Big Sam".....get the crooks out of the game (i'm sure the list is very long)....lets start with Big 'Ed Sam

I guess I just don't want to see Big Sam take over which may very well happen tomorrow.

Anyone got a tactical breakdown of Sven's football philosophy? Did his club teams mirror the England tactics? Could he match wits with the Big 4 managers?

I am sorry, I am not a fan of either Sven or Big Sam. Other names I don't mind, but not those 2.

How about Mark Hughes, nothing like raiding Blackburn again.

I know his team went down, but I am a fan of the job that Jewell has done at Wigan the past 2 seasons.

Have you looked at Sven's club record? Also, don't forget that he only lost something like four competitive matches as the England gaffer, even if his tactics were bashed and he couldn't avoid tabloid controversy.

I just don't see how we're going to get a better name than that, short of Mourinho getting axed and deciding he wants to stay in England and that isn't happening. I don't want Big Sam just because he'll be the England manager as soon as McLaren gets sacked (which will be this summer, I reckon), and I don't want Coleman because I figure he's going to be the Wales manager after Toshack gets canned. Pearce? McLaren? Jewell? I don't think so, personally. Hughes is going to try and go to Man United when SAF steps aside. Sven makes the most sense all the way around, as far as I'm concerned, unless someone can offer up comparable candidates that aren't highly unlikely to become available (Mourinho, Strachan, Hitzfeld, et al).

Right now everything points to Big Sam. I sure hope Fat Fred has got something up his sleeve. I wonder if the new manager will be in place in time for Sunday or Lee Clark takes over for the final game of the season.

My money is on Lee Clark to take the last game. Maybe Shearer will show up to sit on the bench with him.

    Roeder lost the dressing room!

Great article from The Guardian. Why does it take a London paper to break the story on the dressing room discontent?

I wondered how long it would take before Big Al was mentioned. Now theres a thought, any markets offering prices for She-Ra yet.

Don't know if he's been mentioned, but Steve Coppell would be perfect for this job. He's overachieved with the small budget at Reading, and he's done it playing a beautiful style which he doesn't sacrifice even when going against much more talented teams. If he were available and interested, I'd want him if I were a fan of the Toon.
