According to SA confidential, the Gals are replacing the teal as the primary color for the team with a dark green starting next season. You guys are getting some brand-new green unis next season.

    What do you guys think?

I wish they'd stop screwing with the colors.

It'll be amusing to watch G jersey sales drop faster than Chicagoon in the standings if they are that color. :p

Nothing other then the fact it's mexico.

    I wouldn't mind celtic green.

Although for some reason teal, or whatever color it's supposed to be sounds more "galaxy" then a plain old green....

Biggest problem with changing colors is you get a crowd that looks very hodge podge, i mean changing kits every few years is fine, even change the damn logo, but the colors...hrm.

    It's not easy being green...

The Galaxy front office probably logged on to the LA RIOT SQUAD's website and realized what a great color scheme was there. Dark green. Working for the man.

If they keep the gold I think It will be the coolest color combo in MLS. Green and Gold, that sounds good too!

But seriously. There's a discussion going on in the Indoor Soccer forum. A lot of MISL teams are reviving the nicknames of their predecessors, e.g. San Diego Sockers, St. Louis Steamers, Cleveland Force. Now let me preface this by saying that I understand that the Galaxy have spent a lot of time and effort building the Galaxy brand name in LA. And it may be counter-productive to change the name now. However I'm of the opinion that MLS teams should revive the NASL names whenever and wherever possible. Except for the Cosmos. That would be like naming an expansion baseball team the Yankees. With that in mind, I would change the name to the Los Angeles Aztecs and bring back the orange and black. Maybe add silver as the tertiary color. Which is essentially the color scheme of the British Columbia Lions of the Canadian Football League, where you'll find the Edmonton Eskimos. But seriously.

i agree. another reason to keep the teal is that it's UNIQUE. not many other clubs around the world have teal as a color, an IMO that in itself is enough of a reason to keep it [and it's not as if teal is that bad of a color, i kind of like it].

anyone interested in starting a petition for the team to keep teal and gold as the colors? i'd be willing to get one going at petitiononline.com if someone would write it up [or they can just start it up themselves].

Well that's what the San Jose Sharks had in mind... in 1992. It's the 21st Century now, they should probably have a more contemporary color scheme.

true, it is the 21st Century, but the Galaxy has only been around for six years now, and we need to stick to a color and establish it as our own.

True enough. That's how I qualify my proposal to rename the team the Aztecs. If people know the Galaxy, it's bad business to alter that perception. Though some think it's a false correlation, I think the Clash becoming the Earthquakes might be to blame for their attendence trouble. Or maybe people who remember 1989 don't find the name all that funny.
