Boy, that title just leaves so many things wide open for ridicule... here's the link: http://www.thecrew.com/show.cfm?article=715 Shane has quite a bit of interesting info here, 2 days running! My questions are: 1. Who the heck is Pierre? Is he a full time Strength & Conditioning guy or was he just brought in for offseason work? 2. "It's not just competition to make the squad, there's already serious competition over playing time." Well how about finishing your thought Greg and telling us what else it is? I'm a little worried by the paragraph on how different people are leading in their own special little ways. I was always under the impression that if you have too many leaders and nobody to follow them, then you get pulled in too many directions. I'm still troubled by the whole "veteran leadership" thing Andrulis seems so stuck on.
I think you are misreading that. At least, I think he's saying that some players are already staking claims on starting roles, perhaps to the detriment of returning players from last season.
Pierre Barrieu, stregth and conditioning coach of the US National team. I don't believe he was brought on for a full-time gig, I think it was just part-time over the break. I could be wrong, but that was the impression I got.
He's the Crew's S&C "advisor." because the Crew is too cheap to go out and hire a full time S&C coach. I guess he's given out pre-preseason training regiments to all the players and now he's overseeing training camp. He's a Nancy Boy and the national team S&C Coach. Which isn't all that encouraging considering everytime the Crew send players to the Nats they come back hurt. Just another instance of The Bruce trying to keep us down.
