Well look what I just got e-mailed to me from a friend who works within the Chivas. Word around Chivas camp for opening of new stadium is a new logo.
guys the escudo is the escudo, that will never change but the other one of thgoat is nice, its classy and that is to say that it is estadio chivas.
I dont know if i didnt understand right, but Vergara better not touch our hermoso escudo and replace it with anything else. If Vergara does this, I can guarantee mass disturbios in all of Mexico.
I could see that on a sign outside the stadium and promo stuff. It will not be the shield, don't worry about it. You can see the hills in the back, like the stadium's surrounding area.
looks sharp but I doubt it would replace the existing logo maybe they will just use it for the inaugural first season when the new stadium opens
I agree this will only be some banner inside or outside the stadium. It's kind of cool all though it looks like a ram more than a goat. Speaking of the "Escudo" Can anyone fill me in with some background as to what is the history of the shield? Do the lions leaning on the tree hold some interesting significance? Why a knight's helmet? I realize there is no Goat on it because the nickname was "embraced" some time after the team was established. What about that shield that was on the Centenario jersey? Just wondering. I've tried researching it but have not come up with anything.
This is the shield of Guadalajara and its also part of the Chivas emblem. It was given by Emperor Charles V. And as you know the red stripes are part of the uniforma and the colors red white and blue were the colors of the favorite team of the founder of chivas in belgium.
Thanks, thanks for the info. I had no idea that the shield was taken almost directly from the City's shield. I got this from the Wikipedia on the Seal of Guadalajara "The Emperor Carlos V of Germany and I of Spain, grants the Title of City to to Guadalajara and granted his the shield of weapon in the year of 1539. The description consists of a blue field, a pine of sinople outlined, two lions rampantes of color, opposite to forehead and the legs on the trunk, embroidery is of gold, consists of seven arms of gules. For stamp, closed helmet and for cimera a flag of gules, loaded with a cross of Jerusalem to the one that uses as shaft a lance of the same color, the lambrequines are of gold and blue alternated. The blue field means loyalty and serenity, the pine of sinople means noble thoughts, the lions sovereignty and warlike spirit, the arms mean protection, favor and purity of the feelings, honor to the battle of Baeza against the Moors in 1227. The helmet represents a degree of nobility, victory in the combat, the cross of Jerusalem means that the conquerors were descendants of the gentlemen of the crusades, and the lance is the force, the prudence."
It is to my understanding that much of Chivas history has been tweaked, in some cases re-written to make the club more Mexican. While the uniform is indeed patterned after Club Brugge the Chivas kit colors are those of the French flag. A quick look to the Brugge uniform and we can see that while they sport the stripes their colors are black and blue. They could have changed their colors through the years, but I have not found any information on this. Being that the original club Union players were French students, it is more likely that the team colors were those of their home land.
it was as it was thanks to them that also established our beautiful playing philosophy of attacking style the red white and blue where of french in did when they still had some sort of power over the belgium correct??
supposedly this is the flag of Brugge, not the shield or logo, but just some flag i think. there's the red n white stripes, n the blue. it's been reported on many old articles that Brugge changed their uniform colors (no source, just one of those articles that u stumble upon). If this wasn't so, then why would everyone say the colors came from that club if their uniform colors are clearly different?
this logo is nowhere to be found on the official website no more. It had been on there but now they have changed all the logos back to the old ones.
why do they have to change the logo ? There is nothing wrong with, it its perfect as it is. Even if the new stadium does open that doesn't mean the logo has to change, and like most i do not like the logo that is proposed.
Esta feo! Our current logo is perfect. I don't see the need to change it and make it ugly. The only change that's acceptable on my part is to add more stars.
