Jersey aside, I think a complete rebranding of the team is a great idea. A fresh start and a great way to get the changes noticed.
No picture of the back. I would just hope it doesn't look like the pickup truck grill that's on the front.
It is almost the same as the Inter jersey they are wearing now. I ll definetly buy it. The Inter one looks real smart, back looks like the US jersey. I believe the www.theonoinbag.com will be carrying them. Available soon in both NY and NJ locations. Does that make the shop NY/NJ Onion Bag?
I know all of this will get bashed on here but I like the new logo and the kit. I like the fact the "Metrostars" is no longer as big as it used to be on front of the kit. I also think that the logo is classy and conveys tradition and permanence. It is also immediately recognizable as a soccer logo. I've got no complaints.
I love the whole rebranding. The new coach impresses. Looks like I'll drain my wallet on MM 2003 soon. [keyshawn]Just give me the damn championship![/keyshawn]
OK, so we all new this new logo was coming. I'm of the opinion (and seemingly alone) that it's quite bad, especially considering that Metro no doubt paid some designer or team of designers in excess of 10k to come up with this little gem. -Why so much white, when white hasn't been a part of our graphic identity since 96? -Why on earth do they continue to insist on putting a soccer ball in the logo. It is so mind-bogglingly juvenile. -Why a white star instead of red or gold? Probably some ridiculous fear of political branding... -If we're shooting for a significant rebranding of the team, why on earth did they hold on to that dreadful treatment of MetroStars? It's just so terrible... I'll reserve judgement on the top until I actually see one. But I'm hoping the shirt pulls it all together... Having said all of that, it certainly could have been worse... like a giant soccer ball with the name treatment splashed across the front. I find that the older I get and the more I've been around this team, the less I care about stuff like this. Just go out and win something. All of the rest falls firmly in the whatever category... which is exactly how Metro want it; they don't want anyone to care about anything other than calling in with their credit card numbers...
The shield looks a little lost in the jersey.... but no complaints on the new coach. Getting rid of Diallo = winning me back Getting a good Local head coach = winning me back And just for the BC alum: Faria is from Rioooo Faria misses for Chicagoooo
I'll have to see it in living color to know for sure, but at first glance, I love the new kit, and I really like the new badge. Even if it looks like some marketing bozo got into the badge design meeting at the last minute to smear the electric 'Metrostars!' across the badge, in place of the M in one quadrant, as was rumored. Another sign of the marketing dorks getting their hand in is the soccer ball in one quadrant - just to remind you what sport the team plays! Just for curiosity's sake - can anyone think of another team in the world that has a graphic of a soccer ball in their badge? It doesn't really matter. I'm smiling too much to care now.
Just to qualify my original post so I don't come off a complete misery, I really like the shape of the crest, the splitting into quadrants, the star and the bars. I just think the white star is coming completely out of left field and could be so much stonger as gold or red; the soccer ball is just plain lunacy. On the Metro home page they have est 1996 under the new logo; why not encorporate that into the logo, say, instead of the soccer ball or in the lower left quadrant. It could be so much better, but I'll be happy if this organization can just get it's act together on the field.
I like it too. Perhaps this is a start re: AEG stepping up, making its presence felt and clearing out any remaining Metromedia legacy.
It looks a hell of a lot like the Screaming Eagles logo. Tim <-- Running Very Fast Now To Avoid Crap Being Thrown At Him
Why you picking on Flanigan? Michael K., please see the FC Barcelona badge. It's an old school soccer ball, you know the type that look like a volleyball.
