I think the stadiums will be very good. I hope they do not ruin the Italian stadiums in the same way as in two Brazilian stadiums (Mineirão and Maracanã). They simply turned them into an amusement park, removing all their history. Sad.
That is how bridges are repaired here. One side gets closed while the other side goes two ways. Once the side is repaired, the same done in reverse.
So good news on the Verona front: The financing has been approved as well as the local council agreeing that the renovations are in the public interest. However two things here irk me: 1. The stadium will be owned and managed by a third party. So Hellas/Chievo won't be able to maxmize revenues 2. The proposed capacity will be reduced to 26k which will disqualify Verona as a potential host city for any international event. Estimated cost : 150 million
150mil for very little return for both clubs. Basically the city is losing out in rent income and some company is going to profit from the stadium now. Seems like a bad deal all around.
I'm not 100% sure of the deal, but I really doubt there is nothing in it for the city of Verona. They're most likely getting a share of the profits without costing the taxpayer a dime. They're also redeveloping the entire area (restaurants, businesses, a new hotel inside the stadium etc) This means more jobs In the case of Hellas and Chievo, they get the added benefit of not playing in a stadium that resembles a giant toilet. The visibility at the Bentegodi is worse than the San Paolo. In the case of Hellas, this will boost their ticket sales.
If neither Hellas or Chievo can benefit from revenues a potential stadium may bring, I'm not so sure how that will help either club.
October is a great time to do that. The wineries are harvesting grapes along the Prosecco Road. Fewer crowds and tourists; we were able to walk right up and get tickets to visit the Scrovegni Chapel in Padova. Air BnBs weren’t all booked up. No waiting at restaurants and cafes. It’s not as humid as summer. There was no rain. The temperature was very, very comfortable.
Does it really matter how many fans buy tickets and come to a stadium with today's TV , cable and satellite packages? I mean does it really matter ow big a stadium is anymore?
Inter and Milan: No to two stadiums By Football Italia staff The municipality has decided against building two opposite stadiums at San Siro, after Milan and Inter met with representatives from the municipal administration. A meeting between the parties lasted for approximately one hour, when they discussed the new stadium. A newsletter states that “the study has demonstrated the non-sustainability of the coexistence between two stadiums, due to critic generated by the acoustic, roadway impacts, the management flows and security.” Milan President Paolo Scaroni was followed by managing director Ivan Gazidis, whilst the delegated administrator Alessandro Antonello represented Inter. The two clubs discussed why there can’t be two stadiums facing each other in the San Siro area. The new stadium will be the Giuseppe Meazza, even if it’s reduced and reconstructed.
Maybe so. But it doesn't bode well for Italy's chances of hosting another major tournament (which Italy desperately want). Verona was a host city for Italia 90'
I would say they have about 2-3 years to sort this out. The city of Milan need a solution because of the 2026 Olympics
Any news on Roma's stadium front? I'm betting Totti is working behind the scenes to lineup new owners to buy the club. The one thing about the former players are , they don't have the funds to buy a team but they have the name to lure other potential investors....
