In 2005 I believe. The Crew gave up a partial allocation (ah yes, remember those days?) for him and cut Manny Lagos (*spit sound*) to make roster room. Thats the part I remember the best; getting that piece of crap off the roster.

Lagos was a typical Greg Andrulis deal. Trade something or other of value for a 35 year old guy with a long history of knee injuries and surgeries who promptly tore up a knee. Comes back, sits the bench, finally cut him in mid-season and he retires immediately because nobody is stupid enough to want him.

Lagos was the festering herpes-like sore we were burdened with because of Tony Sanneh.

About 11-12 years ago now (time flies fast, doesn't it?), someone asked then-current ownership about the possibility of WiFi at Crew games.

The response at the time were basically that it'd be tremendously expensive, but things were being looked at.

Well, little did we know then that other things "were being looked at".

Here's a mindless story on TV about how people are enjoying being outside during this heat. There was a concert tonight at HCS.

This camera shot caught my eye:

Seeing as I'm only there for Crew 2 games and haven't ever been to a stand-alone concert there, it's an interesting-to-me development that the stadium has wifi, at least on a limited basis.

The wifi was nonexistent in the stadium during the concert

Stadium Wi-Fi is crazy expensive to do in stadiums and arena's. Even in places like Nationwide it rarely works and they have invested millions. I work in the IT and do Wi-Fi amongst many other things for our 600,000 square foot warehouse and office for only 700-800 people and we spend hundreds of thousands on our wifi.

What's the bigger obstacle? The sheer number of people trying to use it at once, or the amount of square footage that has to be covered?

I would guess it's the people all being jammed together. The OSU medical center has wifi over the whole area and it's more than serviceable.

It's mostly the number of people in a smaller area. Each access point can only handle so many wireless devices before it starts degrading. You get so many devices in a small (stadium, arena size small) area and the congestion get really bad. You can throw more access points at it, but once you have that many devices there are inherent limitations of the way wifi works that come into play. There continue to be enhancements with each generation that help, but even the best solutions don't stand up to the 100k+ you get at the shoe. I don't remember how many million they threw at the current solution during the last renovation, but it was a good chunk of change. It still struggles with a full crowd.

Just need $2M and they’ll be made whole from cuts sustained by the government they paid $2M in donations to install. Maybe they should have just kept their damn money and left the hospitals alone, but I won’t say that be cause it’s too political.

Surely yearly testing and supplementation for low testosterone in our troops trumps cancer research ; ) ?

You won't say that? Funny, cause I just read you saying it.

You don't want this to be political, you just thought you'd toss a political stinkbomb into the thread and then walk away.

Subtle is not your thing, is it?

As for your insipid point, I'd only counter that NIH research funding this year went from roughly $38 billion to around $47 billion.

Included in the legislation was, as you oddly try to opine, around $25 million in cuts to programs dedicated to the entirely political DEI programs. Cancelling seminars and programs dedicated to convincing department employees that white people are bad, men are filthy beasts and grown men should shower with little girls does not, in my humble view, cripple medical research in any meaningful way.

But please, continue to be non political.

I couldn't agree more, so I waited a couple days for a mod to make an adjustment and it became clear that wasn't going to happen, so I responded.

It seems like it's never actionable when it's aimed one way, but when it goes in the other direction it needs intervention.
