FWIW I think a crummy year like this would be the perfect time to bring back the Crewzers. I wonder if Emily has gotten chunky.

Seems less than ideal, looking at the state of the roster and the work ($$$) required to get it back to respectability!
As you all know, I signed 2 NDA’s. The first was related to Nationwide coming on board for NWSL, but the second is still active. An announcement will probably be made regarding the information in roughly 4-8 weeks. Again, it’s not anything negative.
Celeb owner incoming. 21 Pilots have been advertising around town with a "From Here" campaign. Dots connected.
They are doing another Tour de Columbus. They'll play the smaller venues like The Basement first and then increasingly larger venues leading up to a show at Ohio Stadium, which was announced last week and which will be the biggest venue they've ever played. Huntington Park and/or SMG will be on the tour list.
Assuming it's happening (I know nothing about their rumors), it seems weird they'd be doing SMG and HCS with the built-in stage there. Then again, with The Basement and Huntington Park right there...
https://www.sportico.com/business/t...lumbus-crew-nationwide-stake-sale-1234901712/ Haslams and Edwards sell a 37% stake to Nationwide
So, does this mean that the Columbus Crew is now a subsidiary of Nationwide Insurance? I'm only half joking...
So the Haslems have now recovered more their initial buy-in costs for the league, but maybe not the additional stadium and team investment while remaining majority owners and a ton of real estate yet to be developed. Not bad business. Next up: further investment in global soccer?
Along those lines, assuming the Nationwide logo continues on the Crew jersey for years to come, would Nationwide be paying the FO/team (aka themselves?) Do we get Scott's Miracle-Gro Field at Nationwide Stadium? It'd be a bit of a plot twist to have Nationwide Stadium just down the street from Nationwide Arena. Same. All: Do we know how much of a share Dr. Pete owns? Is there someone else involved too or am I misremembering?
Nope, as I suspected, the “global” refers to a previous investment that I discussed here earlier. Check out the BigSoccer Discord for details. I’m still attempting to circumvent the Rhino.
Edwards family owns 23% now (sold 7%) and there are a ton of them involved. Only Dr Pete sold some of his shares to help cover his NWSL investment.
Back in the late 1980's / early 1990's the San Francisco Forty Niners were a subsidiary of the Edward J. DeBartolo Corp. (large mall owner / developer back then). The Pittsburgh Penguins were also under the DeBartolo Corp umbrella. This violated the NFL's corporate ownership rules at the time (one the team being a subsidiary, and two the NFL's prohibition against cross-league ownership). They ended up being fined $500,000 by the NFL. Edit: Regarding the Crew, Nationwide's 30% investment being less than 50%, unless they could show significant control (no one entity will own more than 50%, but the Haslam's investment is the largest at 40%), would most likely mean they would not be a subsidiary of Nationwide Insurance.
