Yep, see he's still listed on the coaching staff. I've had a couple interactions with leadership over there over the last 5ish years. They've been more helpful than I would have expected. Also, one of the coaches from my current club, whom I respect a lot, just went there this past summer. But nowhere in any of that had Lesh's name come up. Meh, live and learn I guess. Makes sense
Since there's already a lot of discussion about the Columbus Fury here: $10 tickets in the "party zone" available only on game days to walk-up customers. Their attendance last year was absolute crap and, from what I was told, worse than expected. Ticket prices didn't help and neither did the team's play. If they can get their crap together, $10 tickets (or, say, even $15 or so in a year or two from now) might be stiff competition compared to sitting outside at a Crew game in February.
I like volleyball. Back in the day we'd go to a Friday night game at my alma mater before football on Saturday. But not here--at the prices they are charging.
If I recall correctly they are on the floor near the DJ. Standing only with some tabletops to congregate around.
The tea coming out of Cleveland is that Jimmy wanted to hire Jim Schwartz or at least keep him on as a DC, and the GM who Jimmy said would have full authority to hire wanted 35 year old wonder kid Nate Scheelhasse. They compromised and settled with their old OC in 2019 Todd Monken. Now Schwartz is throwing a very public fit through his agent online. The browns are the browns.
New song for the next HiR: “YOULL NEVER SING THAT YOULL NEVER SING THAT #8 ON THE LIST OF MOST VALUABLE FRANCHISES AS DETERMINED BY SPORTICO YOULL NEVER SING THAT”
The guy who made out was Arthur Blank. He paid just $70 million for the team in 2017. $1.14 billion is a pretty hefty return, and he didnt even have to sink $500 million into building a stadium.
Except that they dont actually own any real estate. The whole site was given to the city and leased back. And the last I knew, their practice facilities were complete dogshit. And their academy is one of the worst and produces nothing. The last review I read said that they have NO academy kids with first team MLS potential. None. Where they find any value there baffles me. Well, except for all that cutting-edge ass cooling technology. Apparently they dont even have a queso fountain.
Well they do have a lying sack of shite, who is a sad, sorrowful, pitiful and pathetic excuse for a human being as an owner/franchisee and a wannabe Chippendale's dancer for a business manager.
How much might they have lost in value from when they were one goal away from being the best in CONCACAF?
I’d assume it’s because these numbers are about as exact at Tranfermarkt transfer fee estimates. Sportico doesn’t have access to MLS’ books. As I recall, they base at least some of these estimates on survey data they get from clubs, but not all clubs take part, provide comprehensive (or even close) data and the data can’t be confirmed or ensured to apples-to-apples compared to other clubs.
I'm not even sure how we have a valuation above that of a place like NYRB, who are a big name in a big location that they own ...
