On the heels of the San Jose thread, also felt the need to create a thread for our new home, in which new renderings have surfaced. Dynamo Stadium illuminated in Orange at night, a la Allianz Arena. VIP Club Lounge Bar inside VIP Club Lounge
If there is one thing I can't stand about how architectural rendering is done these days, it's so damned photorealistic that it looks "unreal". The lighting is always off, the finish patterns are exaggerated and the entourage is so rarely appropriate to the rendering. Other than that, just get it built.
I'm in nor cal. This stadium will make San Jose look like a cruel joke. San Jose is putting up an erector set ostensibly with roof supports that will block views ....19th century style. Houston we have a problem. But not you guys.
Yeah, the current rendering philosophy is to "overload the eye" instead of giving people something to focus on. Every material has a glossy sheen and things that should be flat and dark always "pop" way more than they should. I think it's lazy renderers to some degree - for example that metallic screen/"curtain"/what have you in the last picture Tigereye posted could've used a bit more Rhino. And there's a ton that could be photoshopped with simple filters to make it more "real". In other news, I'm gonna go ahead and guess those triangular wood ceiling panels are one of the first things to get VE'd.
Last I check, in most major urban cities, curb side lighting (lamp posts, street lights, etc) are in fact lighten in orange already. A lil Neon Orange wont hurt.
If you need to convince someone to like MLS, just tell them that three of the first threads on the message board has the word "porn" in them.
Especially when it's a downtown location that already has plenty of ambient artificial light, it's lighting that'll be on for maybe for a total of 4 hours, once a week, and almost always turned off before "bedtime".
Here is the webcam view: http://www.houstondynamo.com/stadium/webcam It's kind of hard to see in that view but they have put up the first two parts of the roof structure. They are on the right side of the stadium at the far end.
Hmmm. I might have jumped the gun a bit. They were putting up the 2nd roof section this morning but it is not there now.
Suites are probably some cookie cutter stadium standard. Pretty sure that's an identical suite to the ones I've used in Minute Maid.
They got ahead of schedule a lot because Houston has been completely dry just about the entire summer. Expected date to open - mid May is what I have read.
Actually not ahead of schedule, just right on it. The stadium completion date has been May 4, 2012 since late last spring. Team President Canetti said the other day that they are shooting for the Grand Opening on May 12, 2012.
...maybe I'm the only one that's disappointed by your usage of the word. Where's all the hot building-on-building-on-building action???
Wow, it's coming along nicely. Now Chivas and SJ need to get on the ball and break ground on their stadiums (and DC, but we all know about their struggles.)
