I'm curious to know everyone's opinions on NYCFC's new jerseys. I keep hearing hugely negative reviews but I think it's pretty awesome.
If I were an NYCFC supporter I'd buy it. When I'm not wearing Union jerseys in the summer I wear tropical print shirts, so it's the kind of crazy that appeals to me.
It may not be 100% awesome, but the fact that it is so different from the boring old MLS go-to, makes it pretty sweet.
Exactly. Also very different from most all pro sports here in the US. Definitely does a good job of standing out in a crowded sports city.
Plus they need to distinguish themselves from Man City and not just trot different variations of their stuff.
Anyone see the hubbub on the Twitters where NYCFC uses the hashtag #WeAreOne, and folks are "reminding" ManCityJr that the Union have had that motto on the inside jersey collar since day 1?
Except for, you know 2012-2013......when the Jersey's had Jungite Aut Perite on the inside of the collar,,,
So I forget...is our first look at the Aways when they're actually on the players in 8 days? Haven't we seen Home and Secondary's from many of the teams already?
They changed the color and the logo all around for the BSFC jersey, so it's not like they haven't done it for us. And Club America always used the same logo we do when they were sponsored by Bimbo.
Yeah they are probably like "Change the Bimbo color scheme or else we'll replace it with one of our 12 other shirt sponsors."
I gotta say, looking at what other teams have come out with, the Union's next secondary better kick it up about 10 notches. Love what Seattle and Houston did with their secondaries this year. Ours are so bland by comparison to what other teams are doing. I'm OK with it for the primary because I like the consistency, but they gotta mix it up with the secondary.
Agreed. I can live with a primary kit that follows a consistent template (navy, khaki strip) but they do need to liven up the secondary kit. I love NYCFC's secondary kit this year. We've yet to see a bright yellow and powder blue kit to match the Philadelphia flag for example. Although we've all seen how disaster can strike when trying to incorporate your city's flag (i.e. Columbus 2016).
I thought they were going to keep doing shoutouts to various Philly teams from the past like they did with the Steel 3rd. Let's get an Atoms-inspired shirt, or a Fury, or Philadelphia Ukranians. Hell even a Fever shirt could be pretty cool if done right
