Appparently, a new profesional hockey team will start pretty soon in San Francisco, according to the press realease, the team will play in Cow Palace I spoke to the owner of this team and make understand that they are looking to create a "pool" of players for the San Jose Sharks. http://www.fhc.ca/newsstories/hockeyteam/index.html Let see if this time around hockey sticks in San Francisco.
This was announced a few weeks ago... It might work as a low-cost alternative to going to the Sharks but then again, I've been seeing them promote their games on billboards along 101/280 and the 80/101 interchange coming from the Bay Bridge. There was the old IHL team called the Spiders and a whole series of fly-by-night minor league teams that came and went. Since this team will be in the ECHL (two-tiers down from the NHL) it could be a feeder club for the California NHL clubs (Sharks/Kings/Ducks). The Sharks did play in the Cow Palace before moving down to their permanent digs south so the Bulls as a minor league outfit have to expect smaller crowds. Good luck to the SF hockey team though if the can get a season in.
Honestly, I'm a bit disapointed of the name "S.F.Bulls", it has nothing to do with the city or at least the area. The owner of the team was asking me (a soccer fan who knows nothing about hockey) what whas the best way to do this in the bay aea, my reply was simple...just copy the S.J.Sharks organization !

Cow Palace needs the events especially since it's taken a dent for promoting raves and most of the major musical acts have flocked to San Jose... Also, the venue in recent years had been rumored to be torn down and converted into housing/commercial usage so if the hockey Bulls want to spruce the place up more power to them... If indoor soccer returns to San Francisco I'll take the Fog moniker back. ---- the name Bulls would match the name of their home--Cow Palace hence--otherwise the only "Bulls" I know are the hoopsters in Chicago...
