Hmmm...I wonder at which Uptown Espresso Grant hangs. I stop at one several times a week on my way to work.

Don't know if it's the best ever, but he seems to improve every time out.

    Classic.

And that last story did give me the chills...

PS. And if you don't have the DVD and DON'T have the money, TELL SOMEONE TO BUY IT FOR YOUR FOR X-MAS, BEFORE IT'S TOO LATE!! ;)

i am sorry but i woke my roommate up upon reading this from laughing hysterically...the picture in my head is worth a thousand words...

Stopped for a couple days in Bradenton, Fla., last week, long enough to conclude there's an outstanding Dawson's Creek-like reality series to be done on the U.S. under-17 national team (in residency at the IMG Academies) and their female tennis phenom groupies.

Yeah, can you imagine how this'd do on MTV? The ratings would be through the roof. :)

That was really beautiful what the guy said about holding his baby daughter in middle of the night watching soccer, and thinking about what it all meant to this country.

I might get laughed at for this, but I don't mind if FIFA gets rid of offsides. At least start calling it by the rulebook, not the ultra-conservative way it's done around the world. The EPL has made strides to let attackers get a full body ahead as long as there is no space between them and the defender.

It would definitely add excitement to the game. Just imagine a receiver in American football running 50 yards down field wide open, catching a touchdown pass, then it's called back because he wasn't even with the last defender when the ball was thrown. I honestly don't know what the purpose of offsides is in soccer or hockey anyway. All it does is punish a wide-open offense for going all out at the goal. It may force strategy, but honestly who cares about that when it's goals galore. If I'm not mistaken, back in the early 1900's scores were about 3x what they are now. That's why guys like Archie Stark could score 67 goals in 20 to 25 games in the ASL. Not to mention that teams used to play 5 or 6 forwards, which is completely reverse of today's game, where the goal is not to score the most goals, but to give up the least.

I enjoy the game today, just think some rules should be changed, to make it twice as exciting. Who wouldn't love every game to be 3-2 or 4-3. I know I would, but unfortunately most purists prefer 0-0 or 1-0.

    Great article!

I'd watch it, it'd be cool for ESPN to make it to go with Beg, Borrow, & Deal. But Mickey would never allow it.
