Burn have an Ecuadorian forward in for a look named Gustavo Figueroa.
According to his agent (and Burn), the player was born in California and has US citizenship. Looks like he led Ecuador League in scoring last year for S.D. Aucas.

His agent made it VERY clear that his four appearence for Ecuador were all exibitions and is NOT tied to Ecuador as they were not sanctioned events.

he must be good... at least worth a look, if he lead the league.

if i am not mistaken, former burn player arial graziani performed well down there this past year for emelec.

For what it's worth, he's listed in the Championship Manager database as a fairly good player who can play centrally or on the left

A few tangentially related notes ...

    1) Graziani has gone from Ecuador to Lanus in Argentina, where he has three goals in six games.

    2) Peter Villegas was a standout for Aucas last season and was signed by Barcelona, who I think are Ecuador's biggest club.

    3) The current starting goalkeeper for Aucas is named "Rene Higuita." Same guy? Or a relative, maybe?

Haven't the Rapids just signed someone with dual Mexican and US citizenship? How good is that guy and is he cap-tied to Mexico?

He seems capable and isn't cap-tied.

Yeah, since the guy's basically Ecuadorean, why should he give a crap about playing for them any more? (Sorry....but I had to :) )

I know you are being facetious, but now that i think about it, he WOULD resemble Mexico's situation with that Castillo kid...Of course, in the latter case, the player could not even decide who to play for (Mexico or Uruguay), IMO a mercenary of sorts waiting for the best opportunity available....Now nothing is know of Figueroa , but the first question would be whether he speaks the language...and hear from his mouth (and not just the agent) whether he'd favor the US over Ecuador///Of course, this all depends on whether he signs and plays well in MLS, although him being in Ecuador and playing Libertadores does him no harm if he was willing to suit up for the US

So much for all the talk:

    http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent/dws/spt/soccer/stories/032504dnspoburnlede.d0e0.html
"Also Tuesday, the Burn evaluated Ecuadorian forward Gustavo Figureoa , 25, who has four appearances for his country. Figureoa plays for CD Aucas and is currently Ecuador's leading scorer.
He had a goal and an assist Tuesday but was only marginally effective otherwise. Born in California (he has dual citizenship), Figureoa would not count against the foreign player limit. "

Funny that a goal and an assist are not good enough (yeah, well i know it was easy/inferior opposition) but I've seen a few times this season MLS teams ending up tied up w/ college teams, so i do not know why the Burn (or at least the author of the article ) would be so dismissive

Maybe because they actually saw the match. The goal was a tap in. The assist was a creative chip over the defender to the left-wing (Quill) who finished the chance. Other than those two events there wasn't much from him.

He's intriguing but I'm not even certain I would want to use an allocation on him, much less start penciling him in for the USMNT.

But the Burn haven't dismissed him yet, have they?
