Gate B has 3 metal detectors and ticket stations open tonight compared to 8-10 for the history of Audi Field. The home opener this year. was equally as understaffed.
The FEVO promotion for a free Heineken along with ticket purchase appears to have only one person working it.
I used Gate A tonight, but were the detectors actually a problem elsewhere? They changed to the type of detectors that people just walk through without removing everything at Gate A.
Gate B had the normal process of removing everything. I’ll say that the gate attendants were efficient there, but the lines were quite long as a result of the reduced capacity.
I'll have to check out Gate A during the Open Cup game on the 15th to see what's up there (I was out of town for last night's game).
All of social media is absurd when you really think about it, but LinkedInspeak is the absolute worst element of them all.
Matt Doyle posted Sogut's LinkedIn post on Bluesky - the response to it was both hilarious and deeply depressing as a DCU fan since 1996.
Why D.C. United Are Struggling to Create https://timfal.substack.com/p/why-d...te?r=3ibdti&utm_medium=ios&triedRedirect=true Spoiler: It's Pirani (and Peglow and Hopkins)
Thanks - if I had paged down enough to see actual soccer content I would have known, but nothing in his bio or first pinned post seemed soccer-y so I kept on looking at other matt doyles
I was starting to feel optimistic for this season... until I read those comments. They did make me laugh, though.
Excellent analysis. Doyle posted this just after the Dallas game. The reference to "the goal above" is to the first goal by Farrington. "D.C…. every year there’s a team that comes out and plays physical, risk-averse soccer and punches above their weight for the first month of the season because of it. Mostly, though, those teams go into a slow spiral as the more expansive teams actually become more comfortable using the ball. You can kind of see it on the goal above, which came off a midfield turnover. A month ago, Dallas would’ve maybe taken extra touches to sort themselves out, which would’ve allowed D.C. to find a way to get pressure to the ball. Now, though? Now Dallas are crisp enough to coordinate their movements and immediately find Farrington over the top. At that point, given D.C.’s lack of attacking punch – they have zero playmakers – the game was essentially over."
Sean Nealis underwent surgery to repair his clavicle after his injury against Dallas on Saturday and is out 6 to 8 weeks. Which, in reality, means he's out until after the World Cup break.
The Toronto Blue Jays sold over 100,000 hot dogs at a game this week. Please keep Danita and Jason in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
I forgot to check Gate B and can't see it from where I am, but A and C have the walk through detectors for the Defenders game. Defenders do have their logo lightly painted in white at midfield.
Maybe I just havent noticed, but it's been a long while since I have seen the team giving discounted tickets through travelzoo: $26 & up—DC United home games, up to 31% off | Travelzoo The discount is pretty, pretty good. For comparison: for the 4/25 Orlando game, my season tix in 126 have a face value $62 and new unsold seats are $66 (b4 fees). The travelzoo face value is $55 (b4 fees). Non-inclusive club-level seats have a face value of $105 on tikatDICKtator but only $88 with Travelzoo discount. for the 5/13 pee on the Fire game: 126 STH face is $61, tikatDICKtator is $59 face (B4 fees) and travelzoo promotion is $50 (B4 fees). BTW, based on available tix on TM, the Fire game looks to be sold out. Looks like I could save a fair amount of change next year by skipping season tix and waiting for the travelzoo promotion...
I just do not get the vibe that Weiler is going to last until the end of the season. He seems so dour and miserable and, what's even worse, ambivalent. The team is going to be terrible for the foreseeable future and this job is not going to help his career. it doesn't seem like he stays with teams for long even in the best of circumstances and this is quite a distance from the best of circumstances. It's just a feeling but I'm calling it now.
Perhaps gone by the summer break. Anything or anyone that touches this miserable franchise turns to dust.
Weiler has the personality of a wet rag, but I guess you’d have to be an emotionless cavity of nothing to survive coaching this bag of dirt team.
