This was an unintentionally funny blurb from "MLS Daily": San Diego FC acquired versatile attacking midfielder Gabriel Pirani from D.C. United for undisclosed terms. Pirani, a 2023 Copa Libertadores winner with 14 goals in 78 MLS appearances, fell out of favor in Washington after head coach Rene Weiler publicly questioned his motivation Clearly the author hasn't seen Pirani play.
Bogert reporting that the Pirani transfer nets 350K in GAM plus an additional 650K in GAM if targets are met. The Doctor must be distributing good drugs to the SD FO. I wouldn't give you a used, unwashed jockstrap for Pirani.
True, but THIS 24 year old on a salary cap friendly deal should have absolutely no worth to other teams in MLS. Until he scored a couple of garbage goals near the end of the season, he was statistically the worst player in the entire league.
Especially when you realize they're getting a minimum of $350k GAM on a loan deal. For a player technically out of contract after the season.
Well, DC is announcing it's a full on transfer. $350k GAM guaranteed, up to $650k more for certain performance incentives, and a sell on clause.
a remarkable article that ties soccer and space: read it if you can (way too long to put in here): https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/7426442/2026/07/09/soccer-ball-space-houston-astronauts/ The most incredible piece you’ll read today: Nick Miller on the soccer ball on the Space Shuttle Challenger when it tragically exploded in 1986. Somehow, the ball was recovered intact and exactly 30 years later, an astronaut took it into space with him, above, a touching tribute to all concerned. Miller has written a piece that lives up to the quality of pieces Pablo Maurer is famous for and that we all miss (long live the "son" of Soccer Insider).
Has Garber announced he is finally leaving? From the athletic: Significant changes are already in motion at youth levels; what about in the top North American men’s pro league, MLS, which will soon have new leadership?
Also, MLS All-star roster posted https://www.mlssoccer.com/allstar/2...&utm_campaign=mls_asg_26&utm_term=national&et One dcu (alum) made the cut....
Be interested to see that article, if you still have the link. I don't think he's been that blunt, but he's talked openly a lot about succession plans, so everyone knows he's headed out soon.
Tommy Scoops with DC United acquisition news. 🇸🇻 BREAKING: D.C. United to acquire El Salvador international forward Nathan Ordaz from LAFC, per sources.Ordaz, 22, is a product of LAFC's academy. Young, talented US born Salvadorian international who's been a contributor for LAFC until falling out of favor with the current coach (though not Pirani levels). He's on $500k this year and is signed through '29 so LA thought really highly of him at one time. Dozzell and Ordaz in, Pirani and Herrera out seems like an upgrade so far.
He's not getting minutes in front of Denis and Son. He is quick, can play wing and the 9 and can put in a cross. He's out of favor because MDS sucks ass at formations. I think he should be the first guy off the bench as he's fast, technical, and can poach. MDS brings out more midfielders. He's more effective than current Ebobisse but is below him on the depth chart. No workrate, teamwork, etc. issues.
