Was that just a guess? Because DC announced Bundesliga side SC Paderborn 07 for Wednesday, September 30 today.
Newly promoted from the second division. That date also falls in a FIFA international window, which is why it's being played I would imagine.
I imagine they'd play everyone who's not on international duty. Not like the team has a very deep roster at the moment.
A guess based on the press release touting the visiting team's "culture". I remember an interview with a guy who subdued someone in London who had attacked a number of people with a knife. The guy got stabbed himself. He was asked why he entered the fray and he said something like "we're ********ing Milwall and we don't back down." Not many teams have fans who would run towards a knife fight.
Usually by now there are some rumors of something...transfer window opens July 11th. Maybe Leviathan is saving money for the Baltimore next pro team? Btw: went to see the tall ships in the harbor this past Saturday. What the hell happened to IH? How long has it been so run down? Reminds me of Atlantic City.
A rumor! 🚨 DC United, New York City FC and America are all keen on Andres Martín who can leave Racing Santander this summer. pic.twitter.com/60Yczj4jip— Fabrizio Romano (@FabrizioRomano) July 3, 2026

He's put up wild numbers his last two LaLiga2 seasons - 16 goals and 17 assists in 24/25, and 23 goals with 9 assists in 25/26. His team won promotion to LaLiga last season. He'd almost certainly be DC's 3rd DP if he signed here given his current estimated transfer value ($5M according to Fotmob, closer to $9M according to Transfermarkt).
Given that this iteration of DCU would absolutely not gain promotion to La Liga, that he plays a position of dire need, and the fact that he’s put up legit production over there, I’m positively intrigued.
Assuming DC signs Martin: Johnson Hefti Bartlett Rowles Kurokawa Martin Dozzell Peltola Peglow Baribo Munteanu That *should* be good enough to get into the playoffs. Right?
Dear Abby, I know, I'm jaded with DC but is there any realistic chance that United would actually pry open their wallet and spend that much on someone not named Lionel Messi? Signed, Doubtful in Winoland
How often can you turn your thoughts to DC United in order to cheer up. If we bring in a decent attacking midfielder/winger, this team could go all the way to the playoff qualifiers!
