I would love to hear Fire Woman by The Cult blasted at the next Fire home game.......The Chorus is perfect.
    Here's a lil' sample:

    Fire woman, yeah

Shake, shake, shake, shake it, yeah

Wound up, can't sleep, can't do anything right, little honey
Oh, since I set my eyes on you
    I tell you the truth
T-t-t-t-twistin' like a flame in a slow dance, baby
    You're driving me crazy
    Come on, little honey
    Come on now

    Fire
Smoke, she is a rising fire, yeah
    Smoke on the horizon, well
    Fire
Smoke, she is a rising fire
    Oh, smokestack lightning
    Smokestack lightning

Well, shake it up, you're to blame, got me swayin' little honey
My heart's a ball of burnin' flame
    Oh, yes it is
Trancing like a cat on a hot tin shack
    Lord, have mercy
    Come on little sister
    Come on and shake it

    Whaddya think??????

Actually, it's a good song (one of my eighteen or so bands plays it), but the pauses in the chorus might be a bit too long for our purposes. And I'm not sure if just repeating the "Fire" bit will do the trick. I'll have to take another listen and see if there's anything usable.

At the very least, it should make it on the pre-/post-game mix CD they always play.

    Later,

    I second that.

And I agree, the pause will throw everybody off.

That might be hard to get together, but that would make a killer post goal song for Dipsy.

    Side note:

good luck teaching it to everyone and getting more than 50 percent to sing it.

It's nice to dream, but DSLITR is about as complex as we can do right now and even that hasn't quite reached critical mass yet, though it's at the cusp.

What about FOOLS GOLD by the STONE ROSES!!!

The gold road's sure a long road
Winds on through the hills for fifteen days
The pack on my back is aching
The straps seem to cut me like a knife
The gold road's sure a long road
Winds on through the hills for fifteen days
The pack on my back is aching
The straps seem to cut me like a knife

    I'm no clown I won't back down
I don't need you to tell me what's going down
Down down down down da down down down
Down down down down da down down down

    I'm standing alone
    I'm watching you all
    I'm seeing you sinking
    I'm standing alone
    You're weighing the gold
    I'm watching you sinking
    Fool's gold

No one denies these are good songs, but i think maybe you are missing the point.

"Don't Stop Living in the Red" is likely the only full-length song we can manage for the near term and even that is still gaining acceptance (and we've been working on it for a full 2 years).

I will say that if there is to be another song we sing even in part for, it realllly ought to be "Dirty Old Town" by The Pogues. It's a simple melody, and pretty simple lyrics for a full-on song, and has a great semi-sullen but proud mood to it. Really verses 1 and 4. repeated, would be plenty. And speaking from experience it sounds awesome when a group sings it together.

    How about this:
Who let the smoke out? who? who?
(to the tune of who let the dogs out?)

I still refuse to sing this song. I always sing louder than everyone near me on every song, but I just can't bring myself to sing this song.

Well, you'll be assimilated into the singing masses soon enough. :)

    Can I ask why though?

Maybe cuz Andrew WK sucks so much.

I don’t sing it either. Wait, check that, I have never been sober when I sang this.
At first I thought it was horrible, then after a while just a bit dorky, last few times I thought, hey, this ones startin' to take on a life of its own, it's not that bad. A little whiskey , a little beer and next thing ya know....RED RED RED!!!

I won't speak for Greddy though.

Hey I don't necessarily like the singer a lot. I was a big detrator of the song when people first called for it to be used but I got on board andmade a complete 180 from where I was before.

You don't sing it cause you like the singer or think he's good. You sing it because it's fun and is supporting the club. I mean, I doubt all those Liverpudlians are huge Broadway musical fans, now.

I have suggested using Liverpool's Jesus Christ Superstar tune with Fire, but have been shot down, because it is a showtune. But it is all about having fun and supporting the club as Liam said. The thing about the showtune thing and why it works is familiarity..everyone has heard these sometime before. To the uninitiated, it maybe easy to catch on to a new chant because of the familiar melody.

Here it is with the Fire lyrics:

    "C-H-I *clap, clap*
    C-A-G *clap, clap*

    O-to the-F
    to the-I-R-E *clap, clap*"

If we used that tune, which I'm not against out-and-out, I think maybe something more along the lines of:

    "Chi-ca-go" *clap clap*
    "Fi-re Go" *clap clap*
    "Lo, lo-lo-lo, lo-lo-lo, lo-lo" *clap clap*

As it's more in line with what we already do and easier to teach to the drunken masses.
