Nice to know that even after the revamp, FIFA's rankings are upholding a long and honoured tradition of being completely and utterly shithouse.

I still think its too hard to rank any teams as its just much to unreliable in todays world football state. Its not as if #5 is a cert to beat #40 anymore. It is nice that australia are starting to move up the rankings no matter how dodgy they are.

Guys. Please do not post any nonsense. I gave you the most accurate ranking in the world couple weeks ago:

    1. Australia (with Hiddink)
    2. Korea
    3. Australia (without Hiddink)
    4. Iran
    5. Japan
    6. Saudi Arabia
    7. Iraq, Kuwait, China, Oman, Qutar etc.

As i've always said, a person's careful subjective thinking is much better than statistical ranking. They really should just poll all the national and club team coaches in the world. It'll be better than any of this.

What a crock of shite, the top ten is fine, it's an improvement and fairly accurate, the next 20 or 30 is almost as bad as it was previously.

    Switzerland 13th??!!!?! pfffttt
    Guinea 24th!!!!!!!!!!????!!!! WTF
Nigeria and cameroon still up so high
    Uruguay 14th?!!!!?!!

    and Asia got REEEEEEEMMMEED

Australia deserve better than 33rd, Sth Korea's is absolute crap, they weren't far off the second round of the world cup, and have played well

I think FIFA must've been hoping that getting rid of the US and Mexico from the top ten and making it look respectable would make people think this is better, far from it. After the Asia cup, i'd expect nothing less than all asian teams to have a giant leap - because africa has been given a very very generous hand from the african nations cup

Totally agree, but this one's sure silenced a lot of (nameless) posters on BS who used to love rubbing other people's faces in them. Guess they're no fun any more. :D

Haha sucked in to Japan and Saudi Arabia. Sucked in. Looks like Australia will be top favourites for the upcomming AFC.

I'm still bitter that Portugal and Spain were ranked below Netherlands. FORCA PORTUGAL!!! Portugal will win Euro 2008 and be amongst top 5 sooner or later. :)

omg wtf, mexico goes down 14 spots after making rd of 16 and usa only goes down 11 and they got thrashed in the group stages!!!!

croatia stays in the exact same spot for not getting out of the group when japan who only had 1 less point than croatia goes down 31 places!!!!!!! only 1 spot ahead of UZBEKISTAN. im no japan fan, but that is utter crap.. im not even going to begin with sth korea and saudi, i think it speaks for itself, pathetic by whoever did the rankings. it's just a plot for them to take half a spot off asia, that is the only reason why they did it.

    Slovenia 505 10 -34
    62 Zambia 498 -5 -83
    63 Mali 497 3 -53
    64 Trinidad and Tobago 487 -17 -117
    65 Albania 478 20 -34
    66 Zimbabwe 476 -11 -110
    67 Congo DR 475 2 -69
    68 Venezuela 463 3 -76
    69 Lithuania 458 24 -23
    70 Finland 456 -21 -143
    70 FYR Macedonia 456 21 -33

    78 Jamaica 409 -32 -198
    79 Libya 401 7 -110

Yeah, I can't work out why japan has made such a big slide backwards. I'd have expected them to drop a few and be slightly higher than us, not drop 31 spots to 49th. Something wrong there I think.

Same with South Korea, I just can't see how they have dropped so far. Like I said, something seems wrong to me.

The USA had a crap world cup and dropped a whole 11 places compared to Japans 31 and koreas 27??????

Seems the FFA is a bit upset that we only climbed 9 places when a bunch of teams who didn't qualifdy for the world cup jumped up 20+ places to a higher ranking than us.

Seems the FIFA ranking system is as good as ever.
