I was not a soccer fan at all until for some reason, I got up at 3-something in the morning to catch the U.S.--portugal match. After that, I taped every match of the '02 world cup. Now, I can't enough soccer. Meeting Clint Mathis at a Dallas Burn game was big too. He actually thanked ME for coming to the game (in Dallas!). When has a baseball, football, or basketball player done that?

    A couple questions:
    1) how likely is it that the U.S. will play Mexico in Houston? I MUST see that.

2). Will the possibility of the Dallas Burn playing in a HIGH SCHOOL football stadium next year kill all hope of acquiring Earnie Stewart?

    Hello Nolan, welcome to BigSoccer.

1.Well, the chance is very likely that USA will be playing Mexico in Houston, but it is not confirmed yet.
    It is 99% likely though.

2.Probably not,the stadium isn't really the factor. It is the MLS,they are the ones who allocate players to teams that need them the most(balance).

    Hope this answers your questions!

Welcome to Big Soccer. I think your questions have been answered already, so I will chip in with this one, by all accounts there will be quite possibly a tailgate for the US Mexico game for a group called Sam's Army. They will probably be some of the few fans wearing red white and blue. Feel free to just walk right up and join them.

First of all, welcome to soccer fandom and BigSoccer. Check out some of the other threads for people's reactions and post yours too.

    To answer your questions:

    1. The likleyhood is pretty good. Nothing is offical until USSoccer announces it, of course. Hope you can make it down to the match.

    2. One has nothing to do with the other. The Burn playing in a high school stadium is a stopgap measure on their way to a permanent stadium in Frisco or some other locality.

Go by the Dallas Burn forum and introduce yourself there too.

you could have 10,000 posts and still rattle off something completely basic and/or stupid

just don't worry about it and have fun with it

    and welcome aboard

(of course, if you become a burn fan... we are required to despise each other at a certain level... but you'll learn about the fire and the brimstone cup with time)

    OTHER OBSERVATIONS

    1)the Mexican national team=Crybabies
2)Clint Mathis, if healthy, will mature (already showed it against El Salvador) and make the World Cup All-Star team.
3)Bruce Arena is exactly what the USMNT needs in a head coach. Lots of confidence, very sure of himself.

    agree/disagree?

  9. Welcome aboard Nolan.

I highly recommend the Business and Media section of Big soccer. Its the best.

    1) and "dirty players" to quote Cobi Jones.
    2) He has the potential but only time will tell.
    3) He seems to have a very good tactical mind for soccer and the personallity to make him a great coach for years to come. The players all respect him and now a good part of the soccer world also.

Hey, welcome Nolan. What compelled you to watch the US - Portugal game if you were not a soccer fan at the time? It's extremely cool that you checked out the game...you picked the perfect summer to become a fan of US Soccer :)

As you develop as a fan you'll be better able to distinguish good soccer and crap soccer.

If you can get out to the Burn games, sit on the general admission side where all the noise is made. The other side is the young kids and/or clueless older people.

    Here we go again.....

Nolan, you'll see that very little discussions actually get discussed..most of the time it's whining and insulting each other.

Yes, Friedel is the main reason I like Blackburn. I like Yorke too. They are also the anti-Manchester United.

Why did I stay up to watch Portugal--US?
really don't know. Just wanted to see and support the U.S. It was AWESOME!

I'm not trying to jump all over a new fan, but why do you consider Blackburn the anti-Manchester United?
In some ways they are a United retirement home.

I have little knowledge of the EPL, I just thought of Blackburn as a smaller, more humble team. and Man-U as the New York Yankees of the EPL. Forgive my ignorance if I am wrong. I probably am ;)

Oh and BRING JACK EDWARDS BACK!! He was cheesy, but I loved him.
