The argument seems to be that the police couldn’t possibly have figured out who Kraft was if it weren’t for them pulling the car over and asking for his ID... That seems a bit incredulous to me as the police likely had the plates from his friend’s car and could have just rolled up to his house and asked who the guy in the video is...

It's a friend's car now? The local reports here in Palm Beach County have indicated it was 2 different chauffeur driven Bentleys...

There also are some reports that, stupidly enough, the basic massage charges were usually by credit card, hence the ability to ID the Johns. The cash paid on video were "tips".

When this is over, I need to take the Palm Beach County State Attorney to lunch, and try to get the real scoop, LOL.

This brings up a somewhat tangential but equally bizarre and creepy aspect of this incident.

For two days in a row (that we know of) Kraft had "a freind" drive him over to a rub joint and wait outside while he got his rocks off.

Excuse me? I have some good freinds but I dont know of anyone I would call up and say "hey, if youre not busy could you swing by, pick me up and run me over to the Asian place so i can have one of the girls tear off a batch? Thanks"

And what do you say when you get back in the car? "Boy, that dose of viagra was killer, man" or " that Lotus Blossom could suck a golf ball through a garden hose" or what?

    Its just......weird.

So you think the traffic stop was unconnected to the prostitution sting? The police were identifying the johns by pulling them over when they left the parlor. Drivers have to show ID. Passengers generally don't. If they went back to the driver's residence to question him, he wouldn't be obliged to answer and would likely lawyer up.

Here's a primer on when police can demand identification. Note that if they were charging Kraft when he left the parlor, they could certainly require him to identify himself. But that would have revealed the existence of their investigation. They wanted to protect that and come back for Kraft later. So they went with the traffic stop pretense.

    https://www.flexyourrights.org/faqs/when-can-police-ask-for-id/

If the prosecutor has to make his case simply based on the video, then the defense will just show up with grainy photos of 20 elderly men and make the detectives correctly identify which one is Kraft.

With "friends" like that, there is no money that can do you any good.

I never said it wasn’t. I just said they can re-establish his ID by showing they had his friend’s plates and could have gotten his name from his friend... Particularly if the friend wasn’t a friend and was actually a hired service.

From what I understand, $1,000 fine is pretty standard for a first time solicitation offense.

Remember that bad guy Al Capone did his jail time for failing to pay his taxes. If those cash "tips" at the Palm Beach pleasure palace/massage parlor were not reported by the business and the recipients then there are federal tax fraud and state revenue violations, too. Those would not involve Mr. Kraft, but threats of such prosecutions could be used to get witnesses to turn.

    What a mess!

Superdave called it. Those markets are so different that I don't think there is one solution that will work for all. Well, there's always the "Just win, baby" approach.

Light a fire under the ownership, because they are doing the bare minimum at best. If it wasn't for funny money we would have a team filled with USL2 level players.

I've said it elsewhere and I'll say it here: The Hunts don't spend the money in the amounts or in the places where I would like for them to spend it, but they do spend money. They are usually middle of the pack in terms of salaries, and the academy that everyone loves didn't come from nowhere.

Ditto KSE at this point. Yes, throwing gobs of money at the team would fix things but not in a stable foundation way. What the Rapids need more than money is KSE to care about results on the field, not just the bottom line. Hire competent people that can put together a team on and off the field that can be successful within the boundaries of a team like the Rapids can expect to have. We need to run more like SKC, not TFC.

You'll never "fix" 100% of teams. It's not possible or rational.

I'm not saying fans shouldn't push the laggards to improve, but anyone that gets upset or dismisses MLS because a few teams aren't keeping up organizationally doesn't understand how professional team sports work in this country.

Lol criminal authorities love to call your average Asian massage parlor jack shack as some sort of international sex trafficking crime ring, when in reality it is simply consensual sexwork that should be legal n the first place.
