I think that this is the way to go: Fair Mitts Tietj. Benson: McVeigh D-Mid. Keep her further away from the goal. Tullock is wasted outside! Get her in the middle where she can feed those nice passes in between defenders!
I think this is a good idea...although getting Monroe out there to disrupt the other team setting up their offense is trhe first move I'd make... To me the desire to play wide attacking soccer, has given the other team far too much of the center of the pitch. Shutting that down is my first move. McVeigh to me seems more a Tullock type player in style. In the past, coaching decisions were a group responsibility with Sundhage and Natale going over opttions with Krikorian. One wonders how comfortable Markovski and Pollard are doing such a thing, particularly given their relative lack of understanding of the holdover players, and the presnece of so many new players.
Good point about the staff Zebrowski. Definite team effort last year.... Start the defense with what I mentioned earlier.... I would keep Kelly out wide in front of Benson. Let her be free out there where the other teams are less inclined to mark her. Tullock in the middle with Makinen in behind. Think about it...... a Defender wins the ball and automatically finds Makinen who is very good with the ball. WITH the ball. She can knock a decent ball into Smith or whomever is on the other side. play on from there!!! Pichon up top with ........? Hoffman maybe wide on the right, Scasna up top or Arrington. I think this spreads Philly pretty evenly all over the park! Solid D with and explosive O
in the other thread I had proposed a 3-5-2 with basically the same intent... but having Mitts and Benson as wingers.. my three backs were Tietjen Makinen and Fair... makinen is there for her ability to win balls in the air.. if you recall how arena played when agoos went out in korea, it was essentially the same concept, with the wingers collapsing to some times be 5 in the back, but had to be able to go the entire length of the pitch... this addresses the wide play for me... and then Tullock in a holding role, with Smith on the left at attacking mid and Hoffmann on the right, so between Tullock and Smith and Hoffmann the type of possession the Charge need is there. Pichon is naturally prefers the left, and Arrington on the right... since Pichon and Smith will require a lot of attention, Arrington's "back door" speed is scary, she simply beats people to lose balls... that's the direction I would go.
