This was taken from the Galaxy board. Go to a local soccer apparel store (not a chain) and glance at the '03 catalogues. Stores have ordered already for Spring '03. That's how I saw the new Metro jersey - looks like new Inter (red not blue of course) with a new crest (to replace the burning buildings.) Is this true? And if it is, what is the new crest supposed to be?
THey thought they was exploding. Cause the electric M looked like it was the flash of an explosion....whatever. Im sure they was just using that as an excuse to change it. Fooking COONTS!
Wait, aren't you guys happy they are changing the crest/shield/whatever? I personally am very pleased about it. The whole electric them on our jersies has always been a joke, and made them look very minor leaguish.
The new shield is supposedly in the style of the Barcelona badge, split into four sections with stars in one part, an M in another, stripes in the third and i think a ball in the fourth. I've been told that from a few different people so expect something like that. We'll see, at this point I find it hard for anything cool to come out of MLS HQ (which is where the main decisions on the logos are made). Let the new debate about replicas begin here and now, will Nike make the game Cool-Motion version available at retail??? I doubt it, since it seems pretty scarce to get even with big clubs like Man U, Arsenal and Barcelona.
I didn't see the buildings burning, as much as a very cartoonish symbol. What really pissed me off was the electricuted "metrostars" blazened across the front of the jersey. It didn't look very tasteful. It looked as if some comic book artist put it together.
What are you some kind of moron? Did you just read that its not out yet and people have just "heard"?
There's no problem with the Crest. The problem's with the GM. The good thing about the "buildings" being done away with is it removes any meaning of "NY", especially considering the team plays in NJ.
They will, with the Goldman Sachs building by the Colgate sign in Jersey City. Although by my recollection, there isn't much yet in Harrison.
If these catalogs are out and visible in the soccer stores, surely someone who works in one should be able to scan it for us, right?
Michael K...I was thinking the same thing, that maybe someone who has access could post a picture, but I got flamed...but your a metros supporter so they might actually answer your question...
"At the beginning of its history the club shared the city’s coat of arms, as a demonstration of its commitment to the city." --fcbarcelona.com I'm looking at the Barca crest and thinking to myself it might be cool if they put the New Jersey flag in the Metros logo. Just as a way to connect the team to the state and give it some identity. Not that the Metros are ever going to be "more than a club," but it might make the pleas for state money seem slightly less disingenuous.
Wouldn't it have been nice to hold a contest for fans to submit their ideas for the crest? (Not including the ones in this thread so far) I'm sure metrocorazon could come up with something that would "bring da houze down"
